It said it was "temporarily out of stock" when I placed my order.

A day later I just got my shipping notice.

As long as it allows you to place an order, it should be cool. Think of it as a pre-order.

The only time it's REALLY out of stock is when there is no option to place an order. As long as that "add to cart" button is there, go ahead and add it, and when they get more, they'll send it out.

I will echo the rave reviews on this book. For those looking for a "definitive" G1 guide, this is it. The photography is outstanding, and really sets it apart from other books. I visited a friend that showed me the guide, and I was blown away. I then was able to get one from ebay a few months back. I highly recommend this for any G1 fan.

 

Finally got my order to process through AmazonJp; really looking forward to this coming in.

Why am I so excited, considering I've owned the original since 2001?

I guess it's just that collector mentality. It's bothered me ever since I found out there was a deluxe edition. And when I tried to track it down on the aftermarket, it was never less than $100. A lot of times it's much MORE. Those 18 pages of exclusive sketches have haunted me for years.

So naturally, I was thrilled to have a chance to get this book for cover price. Was it worth $30 to basically get 18 pages I didn't have? I don't know. Just to be able to cross it off my "want list" is worth it to me.

I just flipped through the sketches...looks pretty awesome....gonna take my time and savor all the images slowly later.

It's not all good though....the paper quality is NOTICIBLY cheaper than the original. Thinner, crappier paper stock. The picturs are more matte and not as vibrant and glossy. Really a bummer. Doing a side by side, the original, cheaper edition is still a better resource. That's a damn shame.

There's a new obi-strip with the 30th anniversary logo and all that.

If you don't already own this book, it's a MUST BUY. If you already have the original but not the deluxe, you still might wanna grab this one, cause why not?

 

I have the original deluxe edition, and I want this one as a "reading copy" that my son can look at too without me freaking out over something happening to it.  

I wonder if Visualworks will get a rerelease as well. I missed that one...

 

I was thinking the same thing; its the only one I'm missing as well and I am not quite ready to shell out the hundo for an OG copy.

 

Looks like they're all gone. Just 3rd party sellers selling them for a hundred bucks again. I'm glad I ordered one of these as a reading copy to go with my original.

I got a second first-print copy for $80 right before this reprint was announced. I wish I'd waited, now, but it looks like it's already gone out of print again. The first printing of the deluxe edition by Million was released to commemorate the 25th anniversary. This reprint has been released to commemorate the 30th anniversary. Are they going to reprint this book in limited quantities every 5 years?

 

I ordered a copy from Amazon JPN on September 9th. They processed my order and charged my CC already. But since then, the estimated delivery date has been estimated to be 9/11 to 9/24. Has anyone heard anything about when this would be in stock again?
