I was 21, and home recovering from scoliosis back surgery. I was so doped-up on pain medication while watching it on tv, that when I woke up the next day I thought that I dreamed the entire thing. Sadly, I did not.

I had just started High School. I was a week and a half into my Freshman year, and we were in phys. ed class when we heard what happened. All our classrooms had TVs so we spent all our classes that day watching the news.

i was hanging out in one of my favorite teacher's classroom when another teacher told him to turn on the tv for the news of a plane crashing into one of the twin towers.

i was expecting a small plane that only sits 6 or 8 people. then i saw a video of the first plane and saw that it wasn't a small plane.

we didn't do any assignments in classes that day. half the students asked their parents to check them out that morning. i was one of them.

my dad had flashbacks of the oklahoma city bombing.

i just stared at the tv that day. watching everything unfold.

there is no way that that day will ever be forgotten.

I was twelve at the time, at a psychiatrist's office. We were just leaving when my mother and I heard it over the office radio. We listened to the news coverage in the car on the way home, where we watched it on TV.

I won't ever be able to forget it.

Asleep at the time of the attack, found out about it on a DBZ message board thread when I woke up around 11 am. Was a 20 year old college student at the time. Every year I blaze up a doob in remembrance of those we lost.

I was asleep. Still living with my parents at that point and I was working at Travelocity at the time. My mom knocked on my door and told me a plane hit the WTC and that I should know since it might come up at my job. Then, about 10 minutes later, she knocked again telling me about the second plane. I said "Come on people, quit hitting buildings!". Then ten minutes later the Pentagon got hit, she told me I should get up because something serious was going on. We watched in horror as the towers fell while she was getting ready for work. She went to work shortly after and I continued watching the news until I went to work later that day.

I was in college and had just gone down to the IT guy's office to complain about the computers AGAIN. I was talking with him when his intern came in and said "you hear about all that stuff going on in New York?".

The worst part of that day for me was being on the phone with my Mom as we watched the second tower come down on TV. Her terrified screams and sobbing still sticks with me. Just a bad memory.

Very first day of High School, was sitting in Bio class when my teacher came in and told us there was smoke coming from Manhattan. I remember the faculty really didn't say much after that. Aside from lunch nothing really happened since all classes had been cancelled. Everyone seemed to want to get home and because of the evacuation not many buses were operating on their normal routes. Ended up walking home and only then did I actually find out what had happened.

I was working in Norfolk, VA and we worried that one of the hijacked planes were coming for us.

Those of us who lived under the bomb during the cold war had it drilled into us that Norfolk was a strategic target because of the Norfolk Naval Base just down the road from everyone in Hampton Roads. We still had fallout shelter signs plastered all over the schools back in the 90's.

I spent the day at work listening to the radio and when I went home, the surface streets were empty, like 3 am Monday morning empty. It was surreal, just creepy, the lights would turn red, and I'd be the only one sitting there and finally I'd just stop and proceed with caution essentially running all the reds. 6:15 in the evening and I'm running all the red lights I made it home in something ridiculous, like less than 10 minutes. I realized just how bad we've been hit.

I was at school. Saw it on TV briefly, and then I went on with my day.

Horrible event, but much worse happens in the world, lets be honest.

Not sure how you figure. The taking of thousands of innocent lives and ruining millions of people's way of life is pretty fucking bad.

I know I was posting on a TF site that night. That's weird to think I've been doing it this long.

I think this is the first year since where I honestly can't remember. :(  Then again, I was only 11. I'm 24 now, so I guess information stops being retained eventually.

All I remember was my mom taking me out of class in 1st grade, then seeing some things on TV like important people talking about it and news reports of people panicking on the street when the towers started to fall. At the time I somehow thought it was a military fighter jet, but I had no way of understanding what was actually happening or having any sort of emotional realization. I guess in that way, those of my age were the lucky ones.

I was at home that day. The first thing I did that morning was check my email and saw it on the news headline of the homepage of my email. I honestly thought it was a movie preview until my brother told me to turn on the TV. We both watched it unfold live from almost the very beginning.

Later that day, I went outside after hearing all flights had been cancelled. I lived near a regional airport at the time. It was dead silent. I mean, you couldn't hear a sound and it was eerie. I'll never forget that day.

Well since it's two days until September 11, I figured i'd share my story.

So anyways, It was my first year after finishing college, and I was a messenger for a company in Manhattan, delivering packages to several buildings. So I was dropping off mail to this Hotel, got all of that business finished and as i'm heading, boom, I hear an explosion of in the distance, I walk outside look to my right and see that the WTC North Tower had been hit, frightened yet curious, i quickly fled to my apartment where my dog and my roommate had already been watching. I asked what had happened ? my roommate said that a plane crashed into the World Trade Center, and by that time another plane had hit the South Tower. we quickly got to our balcony and black smoke covering the skyline we had stayed their the entire morning, saw the building collapse, everything. That was frightened, stunned, left wondering what the hell had just happened. I'm not traumatized for life, but it's not like I completely didn't care, so there my story.

PS: I don't live Manhattan anymore, I live in Tampa, Florida
