Was the editing of this movie bad and that's why the movie's bad?

Yes, that was cool, but it didn't need to be so frustratingly panned out.

Josh and Bing could have gotten into the elevator, the CIA men come, Bing, defends herself, get's knocked back, Olympic guy shows his moves, done.

Half of the time of that scene could have been to pan out the Optimus vs Grimlock for a little longer, seeing as though they cut out the CGI for the BB dancing scene.

Ah yeah, I almost forgot about that, doesn't make me feel any differently about that scene though. It's not even the cameo itself, for a Chinese audience it's probably kind of cool to be able to go "oh hey, it's that guy!" in a big American film, but it could've been handled so much better and not felt completely superfluous.

It was edited just fine to me made perfect sense people just aren't going to admit it did really well at the theaters, still trying to convince people that liked it not to.

I liked the movie just fine, but editing problems exist. It was not edited "just fine." It wasn't even edited as well as DotM.

Okay at US theaters but I don't know if I would say really well. It made the least of any of the Transformers live action films in the US. For a projected budget of $210 million making $244 million isn't exactly a great domestic return. And perhaps worst for the future of the franchise in the US is making under $250 in a very slow year at the US box office and not finishing the year as the top domestic box office. Gets hard to build buzz for the next film when you aren't really standing out in a forgettable summer.

Saying really well would only apply to China where being a co-production helps to make up for only being a mediocre success in the US.

Well there's other reasons why Transformers didn't made that much money in domestic like people instead watched the film online and decided not go to the movies I mean look at this year summer blockbusters only Guardians made 300 million on domestic well about to, Godzilla Spider-Man Xmen Apes could've made more but due to pirating it didn't made that much money.

Only if they hope to pander to the Chinese movie market with numerous Chinese celebrity cameos and Chinese product placement unfamiliar to anyone outside of China.

Oh wait Avengers 2 is partly set in China.

They still have time to retcon Hobbit 3 by adding Chinese warriors and renaming it The Battle of the 6 Armies.

While the editing is bad, it's not the films problem. The films problem is it's poor script and horrible direction.

While piracy is a problem I don't know that you can sum up a lukewarm summer to just piracy. People just don't seem to be getting excited about movies the way they used to. It kind of seems like when people talk about "must see" they are talking TV instead of movies.

The marketing for films like Edge of Tomorrow just couldn't find a way to connect with the potential ticket buyers out there.

Yep its as if the original editor suddenly went aaah fuck it am worn out and went off on vacation leaving joey the apprentice to man the fort as it honestly seems like the further you get into the movie the less sense it made......which i always thought as a rule of thumb in movie making and plots etc is that the further you go the more you know!!????......but hey wtf it ain't like they give a shit they just raked in a billion plus right?!??!

I do blame piracy. And i do blame the major contributors to home entertainment if most people could have affordable decent end movie viewing tech and a home cinema service at a affordable price then piracy would have no point to its existence. The writing is on the wall....Hollywood and all other movie production ventures have got to evolve. Period. As this film simply got too big for Bay and his crew and that is why Imo we have the film we do.

I mean shiiit aoe could have been released in parts in this kind of setup and we would have had an experience that would have been worth waiting for with no rushing to get it to the masses they could go back and create edited or extended versions.....possibilities would be endless and we would be majorly happy lol

The studios do seem highly reluctant to change. It's not like good ideas on how Hollywood could evolve haven't been floated out there and by people in the business. But anything that is a threat to how the theater business model currently works gets shot down.

If anything it's gotten worse with theaters getting rid of the matinee so that it's the same high price every day, day or night, new film or film in it's fourth week of release.

Tell you what i would absolutely love....a big budget cinema release mini series an hour long each coming out a month or two apart. There would be all kinds of room for last minute editing etc as everything would be staggered and in todays light speed comms world thats an eternity.

And once the episode has aired then it is instantly available on Netflix or something too for home viewing pleasure.....piracy couldn't keep up.

That sounds terrible. Having to buy a ticket three times over just to see a story be completed over the course of one-fourth of a year, having to drive out to a theater constantly?

Plus, that doesn't solve the problem of piracy at all. Netflix is a pay service, so not everybody gets it, but it could easily be pirated and put on the internet for free. If anything it would increase as people can't just drive to the movie theatre all the time, and if it's no better than just watching a mini-series on TV then they'll just netflix or pirate it themselves instead of going to the theatre, waiting for the whole series to be out before watching it all at once. The savings in gas alone would justify it. Heck, if it goes up immediately after airing, then why would people bother in going to the theater at all if they don't care about getting the full screen experience?

or.. maybe it's the fact that there was transformers, captain america, ninja turtles, planet of the apes, guardians of the galaxy, and godzilla all coming out within a couple months of each other and going to a theater isn't cheap.
