3 Years after the original? Hell no. I think if they do choose to reboot, they should wait at least 5 years.
The reason we wait with reboots is because people are still attached to the franchise's current incarnation. Nobody gives a damn about Bayverse. Even fans don't care and the last one ended on a cliffhanger. The only reason these movies will even be remembered will be because of some BS OG clause.
It's just not that simple with established franchises. Take Star Wars for example. Every Star Wars fan out there wanted the prequel films to be great, but when the prequel films couldn't live up to the legacy of the original films there were upset fans. The upset fans couldn't just get over it or walk way quietly because somewhere deep down inside they wanted Star Wars to be better than everything else. People have a tough time just letting it go because somewhere in them is a deep desire for a great Transformers film. Not okay, not too bad, not could be worse, but something that would be a timeless classic. Films with the budget of the live action Transformers film are designed to be something that can't just be ignored. Hollywood needs every last ticket they can get out of a big budget film so they will do everything in their power to keep big movies from being something easily ignored. You would about have to live as a hermit in one of the most remote places on Earth not to be bombarded with trailers, ads, movie related toys, and movie related merchandising all attempting to sell the movie.
Um no. The movies have fans like everything else. There are people who hate call of duty. There are people who would give their soul for it. Believe it or not Michael bay has fans. They may not be as loud as the people who hate him. Aside from the internet I haven't met anyone who hates aoe. To say no one gives a damn about the movies is just a no no. If you hate them fine that's cool but remember there is always an opposite side to a fence
I really do hate Call of Duty but I don't hate Bay cause he has a great vision of movies while Call of Duty its the same shit every year.
You know, nobody's talking about anything "Oscar-worthy", I just want them to tell their stories a little better. Like, make things dramatic. Throw some genuine conflict on the screen. If it means something to characters we understand, it'll mean something to us.
Optimus angry at the deaths of his friends by Humans? But most of 'us' moaned at how violent he was, even though it's obvious as to why? -_-* I see where you're coming from though, about story.
I see what you're coming from about dramatic scenes but IMO I think TF1 had like a sort of dramatic plot compared to the sequels, i think Orci and Kurtzman wrote a very good dramatic plot for Star Trek though like they did with TF1.
Except it feels unearned, irrational, and he totally acts that way before the betrayal. We don't see him care for humanity or the other Autobots in any real way (I mean he pays lip service to it with all his speechifying, but we're never made to feel it; and don't say "He died for us," because that wasn't a concious choice on his part so it's meaningless), and he's so hyper violent normally that it's impossible to just give him the meaning attached to just being Optimus Prime, because classic Prime's heroism is totally based on his great compassion. Drama isn't based on plotting, or even character background, it's about motivation. It's about making everyone's purpose and intention felt and understood, and then putting them into conflict with each other.
After the third film, I would have said yes to a reboot. But since I really enjoyed AoE, I say give them a chance now (I mean this was the first film in the series that I completely enjoyed from beginning to end...which I could not say about the previous ones), since it seems Michael Bay has learn't from what I saw as failures in the first trilogy.
What they should do is finish the current movie series then do either a War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron esque movies where they are on Cybertron and/or a new variation on the earth Transformers.
I agree. It's not like we are asking for Citizen Kane, The Godfather, or Gone With the Wind. But up there with Raiders of the Lost Ark or Star Wars a New Hope would be nice. Not looking for film perfection but I do want something more than well it's a popcorn film during the summer months so you shouldn't expect much. If Marvel/Disney can make something of a not so popular comic book title like Guardians of the Galaxy with a talking raccoon and a tree that say "I am Groot" then it seems like between all the Transformers cartoons and all the Transformers comic books over the years there should be some sort of material for a good movie.
