I was talking vintage toy lines. Plenty of protos from lines from the 80's and 90's that aren't worth squat...

But yes, TF's have a better track record when it comes to the line as a whole VS SW. However, while modern TF's are not toxic, their proto's are pretty worthless VS Vintage.

Its a bit late for misplaced sarcasm. All anyone is asking for is up front information. You would appreciate the same if you were spending money on these items.

It's really too bad there isn't as much of a demand in some of the "less" popular 80's toy lines..like Tonka's Supernaturals and Supernatural Ghostlings.

I'm guessing the quantities of ATB and combat heros have gone up above 24. I've personally seen at least 5 ATBs for sale (before all the recent sales) and heard of more. At least 3 for sale with this find plus whoever else already owns them. I have no clue what the actual number is, but I'm guessing it's more then 24. There was also the loose one that went on ebay a couple weeks ago that somehow most of us missed. Wasn't ATB supposedly released in limited quantities at retail as well?

Hell, I just picked up the Megatron part in a loose auction a few weeks ago. When I asked the seller if he had any of the other parts, or Starscream for that matter, he told me he bought it new in the store and had no idea that it was even limited. My guess the Megatron ATB is in the triple digits.

How can you support that BS program? Is it that inconvenient to fill out a customs form to Canada? Now I can't buy one.

This is a good example of how it works, every yes or no question leads to 2 more, each digging a bit deeper. I don't think expecting to maintain a level of privacy is any great shock to anyone. And delving in to every question takes time especially when, like I said, it generates more questions. It honestly makes it easiest to just not answer anything, which is hard to do if you like talking to people. But I guess that is the direction I need to move more toward.

All collections that you purchase vary a bit no matter who you buy them from. Unless you walking and hand someone a bunch of cash (and that is fine if all parties are willing). I think sales agreements are always best for both parties, that can get complicated and expensive, and most of them evolve from their onset to completion.

I will say this, in the future any deal I ever do will be discussed only as a purchase. Because any agreement you might have can evolve from one type of agreement to another over the course of time. With that being said, I purchased this collection, that is how everyone should consider it.

There is a sense of permanence about the internet about what you say or if you are quoted. I will give you an example. I have 4 graded Megatron ATB’s (I will list one soon). I found two of them in a box early on, about that time someone ask me how many of them I had. I told them two (not exactly in confidence but) they then told somebody else “He only has two Megatron ATBs”. Two days later I found another 2, so at that point had 4. Who has the time or inclination to correct every post someone else makes?

I have yet to get the question from anyone how many boxes of yard sale crap were in this collection. Any Starting line-up buyers here? How about Nascar collectors? How about Fisher Price? Anyone need a good deal on some Tonka Trucks? Anybody want to see those videos?

Honestly, no one would want to see box breaks of 40% of this collection, another 20% would likely not be watched to completion. Obviously I am putting the most interesting items on ebay first.

I agree with most of this. The prototype hobby is so polluted by fake Chinese crap (specifically modern Star Wars figures) that it has kept new collectors out of the hobby.

I am constantly getting requests for prototype form less popular toy lines. I think requests like that are like roaches... when you get one there are many more out there.

I have 4 ATB's in sealed boxes. There you have it.... an exact quantity of the sealed in box ATB's. Now everyone can make an informed decision about the ATB when I post one on ebay.

I am going to make a bet, that does not satisfy. (Aside from the fact I will now be asked how many of this do you have, how many of that.)

I do not what to be terribly sarcastic here, but to make a 100% informed decision, don't you need to know this:

How many ATB's that are not sealed?
Are any of them AFA graded?
    Any loose ones?
Do I have a prototype of one? does it come with Starscream?
    or Hasbro Standard versions?
    What are their conditions?
When i sell one on eBay, is the best one going up first or the worst?
What will be the time frame involved in selling them.
(are they going up one right after the other, one every other month, or once a year.)

I think there are a lot more of pretty much all but the hand painted pieces of unreleased G2 than any of us will ever REALLY know. I do remember when the info was that maybe half a dozen of each were floating around, that was the best information we had at the time...and times have certainly changed :)  When I had my LC Jazz the current info was still that only 6 were out there...but I knew the chain of custody before I got it (Mine was from Jon & Karl's collection as were quite a few others of my unreleased G2) and I personally knew 8 other people who had him...

That doesn't always affect the desirability and certainly doesn't affect the coolness, as for value...it's all in the eye of the beholder, and I know quite a few of the 'old guard' collectors that, like myself, have backed away from the abyss. 6-7 years ago I would have certainly been one of the names in the hunt for any of these I didn't have...and I know probably half a dozen others of the old high rollers who have been sitting this out. Maybe some new names will come in to relace them, but it sems to me that the window of nostalgia for G2 isn't as big as it used to be...probably still just fine for the occational Generations nod or even another Botcon set, but the numbers willing to roll the dice on thousand dollar +++ items seems to be shrinking rapidly

As for the speculation on what Jordan may or may not have and what he would or wouldn't show on air is mostly tin foil hat stuff at this poinjt. ...as for what he might or might not show...I didn't see the episode with Pete (I actually don't have cable...) but did that episode show Pete's unreleased stuff? I remember hearing the big talk being about Bumblejumper...which seems REALLY tame compared to just items he outbid ME on lol...and certainly not as compelling for a TV episode as any of the more insane pieces would be.

I think that too. Their is probably some unreleased G2 figures still in abandoned wearhouses waiting to be discovered.

As a life-long avowed fan of G2, nothing would make me happier. What if there was like a warehouse of ATB Megatrons somewhere, or a finished Sgt. Hound?

Or, even better (for me), the REST OF THE FRIGGIN' PROTECTOBOTS?

IIRC Sgt Hound, General Optimus, and Low Vis Ramjet only exist as hand painted versions taht didn't make it into production.

We've seen art of others like Sunstreaker, Mirage, Grilmock (BW Dinobot deco) Sludge & Swoop but I don't know if those even saw painted concept pieces (Pete might...)

swproto, dial back the sarcasm and chill. We know you are being swamped with new and repeat questions. This is a very intensive process for you so set some answers (with reasons) for generic questions and carry on.. (e.g. asking how many of X you have is fine, the answer many change but should not vary much.. Most individual item details can be found in the auction.. But when that auction takes place will not be disclosed in the interests of fairness.)

Hopefully, someone is serious about uncovering the claims of more G2 Menasors because this item is special (just look at the reception it has received) for you, HighPrime, and the cataloging TF community at large. This is not about trying to devalue an item rather it is about quashing rumours. Liars are usually found out and laughed off boards so hopefully when someone makes a claim they are being honest and informative.

I have sold a Groove, and Dragstrip (you can see them in the you video that shows box number 45.) The same box also had G2 Blades but one of the blades is snapped off. It is a clean break and would be repaired easily, but I would rather not do the repair.
