As a G1/G2 collector who will sit on the sideline and watch with no realistic chance to own these figures, this is a real treat. But I really don't understand the logic of the seller - you cannot continue to expect the big players in the hobby to play the game after arguing on the forum, and releasing vids showing 100+ boxes. I totally understand the previous comment that everyone should assume there are multiples of the rarest of the rare(gestalts). Probably should have just put on your poker face and trickled items out over a few years.

Hey Starwarsprotos, correct me if im wrong but isnt this the same collection that was on toy hunter? Sure looks like it to me.

You can even see Steve pick up what looks like the mockup gobots you sold on ebay @ 6:59. So all of the gobots came from the same source I guess.

I would love to see the video. I am getting an error when I try to play it.

    I hear ya.

As I stated, I know that test shots are used for production purposes, and because of this they technically fall under the umbrella of "prototype," but test shots are fairly common and not all that spectacular in that they usually only differ from the retail versions in plastic color and sometimes lack date markings.

I have (and have had) several test shots, but I never really thought much of them. Seeing these prices, perhaps it's time to start. The only time I keep a test shot is if they differ significantly from the production piece in sculpt or features (like the Fett you mentioned), or if the toy was never released at all (like several MicroMachine and Action Fleet toys I worked on :(  ). Most people in the industry, and most knowledgeable collectors, consider hard copies to be the "true" prototypes.

As I said, I know a test shot is technically a prototype, but, like packaging samples, they're just…..yeah. That said, sometimes you can get some REALLY funky test shot colors that make them tough to turn your nose up at. I still have a yellow, pink and black POTF2 Snowtrooper and cannon that I love. :)

Anyway, looks like all is going well with the auction, and I wish you the best, but, IMO, it's weird to see such a big deal made over a simple test shot. I REALLY do hope you find some hard copies. THAT is where the true awesomeness comes in!

    :)

Thanks to Swoop Dogg for the heads up. Of course, if you can nail that down, even better! I'll update with this information in the meantime.

Hey all you fine, much more knowledgable folks than I when it comes to cared toys, but shouldn't the carded stuff be unpunched? What I'm asking is this, on the vid for box 16 as an example, he pulls out minibots and combiner limbs, all carded, but the the peg hole is punched out of all of them. With these being uncirculated prototypes and test shots, shouldn't they still have the "center" of the hole intact? I know from time to time, I'll run across an unpunched (meaning the machine cut the hole, but the cardboard still is in the hole) and people always make a big deal about it. Maybe I'm wrong.

    Thought?

Looks like it must be the same collection, so Toyhunter had a little rummage before you turned up! :)

They took away some My Little Pony thing, a Wienermobile pedal car and then found something actually cool - a lucky draw gold Beast Wars Megatron! Apparently only 3 of them produced!

I wish they were all un punched. That would be fantastic. There is a variety of stuff in the boxes. I even found two burger king happy meal Star Wars toys in one box.... which are utterly worthless. I am assuming that the guy had gotten lunch there one day and the toys came home with him in the back of a car and they ended up being thrown in the mix. They look identical to production ones, so they are no doubt junk.

One of the things I have to do is look over every centimeter of each piece with a 10x loop then often with a dissecting microscope. Looking for anything that might tell me some history on the object; just in case it it something important.

I guess you might call it forensic toy science. Time consuming but fun.

I did not overlook it, sorry, but I politely ignored it. The estate is kept informed on the disposition of the collection in all manners that were outlined in a private sales agreement drawn up by an attorney.

The biggest confusion that i have encountered from pre-production collectors is what constitutes an engineering pilot. I have several pieces of documentation that mentioned engineering pilots as EP1, EP2, EP3

I have some engineering pilot (Star Wars figures) that I know are EP's that are 100% identical to their counterparts that are on the carded action figure package. It is very hard to sell something like that, because no matter the documentation you have on it, it still just looks like a loose figure.
