Only thing I don't like is his height otherwise he's a very solid figure.

I love the Trailbreaker(cutter)/Hoist mold. I can forgive it's size but It's got a simple but effective transformation, good articulation and a great design which is all i ask in a figure, perfect for that MTMTE collection.

I like it. I didn't have any problems with it at all and in fact, I think the back thing being able to either a hand held weapon or a back peice allows for some diversity.

And he's no shorter than Hound and I don't recall hearing complaints about that one.

I knew that it wasn't an engine - but I called it that so that the person I was quoting knew what I wa talking about.

I didn't realize anyone felt strongly enough about the Trailbreaker mold to hate it.

I always found it boringly competent. Nothing exceptional about it, good or bad.

I've never cared that much for Trailbreaker or Hoist, but the robot mode on both figures does look good and I think it would make a great Ironhide redeco/retool. I'm not very keen on how tiny it is though; seeing some Trailcutters in person on a dealer table at a convention they're closer to Scout-size than Deluxe size, especially in vehicle mode.

My main beef with this figure is not is size or design in bot mode but his size in alt mode, I can deal with him being a tad short, but when an armoured 4x4 is smaller than Classics Bee there somthing a miss, I owned mine about a week before selling him on, which is a shame because scale aside, he is a really sweet figure.

I like him, but I do wish he were about an inch taller and a bit bulkier. I never wanted him as a Voyager, but I would like if he had the same bulk/height as the older Generations figures like Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Drift, etc. Also, I could have done without the weird tri-windshield in truck mode, but that's a minor nitpick. Oh, and for an even more minor nitpick, I wish his face were dark gray, almost black, instead of the standard silver.

But mostly I still really like him, and I feel like he does a decent job of filling that Trailbreaker-shaped hole that was in my Classics collection for so long.

Oh, right, forgot about that. Haven't touched mine in a while and I have him holding the shield so the piece is flipped down, so that's what it looked like to me when I glanced over at my Trailcutter.

Generally, the "official" way of leaving the tailfin panels sticking straight up is invocative of that part on the original toy, but like most people I personally prefer just folding it back so it's hidden from view for a more "cleaner" look.

Because it looks like Supercharger air scoops?

Regardless, it's not a radar scanner. That's actually his force field generator. It just looks like part of an engine.

What Autobot doesn't have a gun?

I wish he had a gun but getting the gun hand attachment will fix that. Almost all of my TFs get posed with their gun...except Voyager FOC Soundwave and Soundblaster (since their gun is on the shoulder and thats it)

He's just too small to look good with my other deluxes, and he has all that horrible pink on him. I'm not fond of the exposed force field emitter in vehicle mode, either.

Then, there's no good option to store his capper top thing in robot mode. To store it on his back, you've got to point his force field emitter up. pegged to his arm, it just looks cumbersome. Holding by the handle it looks like a shield. Why does he need a shield and a force field?

If his vehicle mode wasn't so tiny compared to other deluxe class cars and trucks, I'd probable be okay with him. As it is, I'll be sticking with my movie Trailbreaker.

He was hyped up to hell and back, ended up a relatively simple and somewhat flawed figure so it was inevitable people would get mad he "didn't deliver".

Also I think he had a running qc issue with his shoulder joints? and was way smaller than I think many people thought he'd be. I never bought him cause eh the character does nothing for me in g1 or idw.

The lack of g1 accuracy complaint is weird though, its idw gen Trailbreaker, not G1 Trailbreaker.

    Same here.

I have zero attachment to the character, but I thought the toy was rather good.

I really like the Deluxe Trailbreaker even if he is a little short. Kinda wish he had more of a gut though.

We realize it's IDW Trailcutter. Doesn't stop some folks from being disappointed because they were expecting and wanting a more articulated update on the G1 Trailbreaker/Hoist design (rather than an IDW homage) so that the mold would fit better with older Classics Bots. It's not an invalid complaint.

Bringing up the size comparisons with the original G1 toy(s) strikes me as strange. I don't take issue with the TC/Hoist figure size compared to G1, but rather when compared with the likes of RTS Jazz and Voyager Grapple that absolutely tower over them. The stock molds are nice in a Lost Light crew display, just not a traditional CHUG display with Season 1-2 Bots is the main point of contention.

Aside from the size issue, janky shoulder wheel connections, hollow plastic and G1 inaccuracies, the molds also have problems with balance since the bottom of the feet are the flat tailgate of the truck. Tiny pointed toes plus no heels and flat feet (lack of any "A" stance) = easily falling or knocked-over figure.
