I stated in threads in the Movie forum that discussion can continue here about the Movie Prequel comic and here is the first thread for that.

As stated, the book was shipped out to comic book stores for sale on 02.21.07, however due to printing issues the book was ordered destroyed by IDW with a replacement en route for sale on 03.07.07.

Some stores however did not receive this message or chose to ignore it. My store was one of these stores, as I was able to pick up the copy of the issue and have just finished reading it.

The problem causing it to be recalled? The text on page 5 is identical to that on an earlier page. Other than that the book looks fine.

So to those who might have been lucky enough to track down a copy and read it, what are your thoughts?

I got mine today, but that's only cause I was at the store when it opened. Anybody able to identify any of the other bots who appeared in it? I mean, I recognize Arcee and Bumblebee but not the others.

I picked up covers A & B today. The store owner said he left copies aside for me, but I already picked up the last ones from the shelf.

Anyway, I have no clue who's who in this issue. They don't mention anyone by name other than Arcee, Megatron and Prime.. Bumblebee you figure out. What's up with that?

I think they're just random Autobots.

Anyways, my comic store had plenty of copies, and our little town's in the middle of nowhere. Go fig. But anyways, great issue. Don's Megatron is jaw-droppingly awesome. And Don's managed to fit an insane amount of detail in these images. Hot DANG, I needs a poster of the DON's Decepticons. The story also is going along pretty nicely, though I'm kinda lost at one part near the middle where the ceiling collapses on top of both the Autobots and the Deceptidrones and then in the next page, the Autobots are chained up to the wall in captivity. Um... what?

As another minor aside, I felt the panels were a bit TOO dark sometimes. Like you had dull-colored Transformers doing stuff in a big cauldron of blackness.

I'm still trying to figure out what Bumblebee did to Megatron to make him lose the Allspark. Having some of the scenes appear as only silhouettes made it confusing. Otherwise it was pretty cool.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I picked it up yesterday.
    I thought it was great.
The story seems very dark and should be a great lead-in to the movie.
I don't want to give away anything about the story.
But, I would love to get some more reactions.

I think BUMBLEBEE jumped on MEGATRON to delay his take-off, giving the Allspark a few extra seconds to enter hyperspace/a wormhole where the Decepticon leader couldn't track it.

The story was pretty much as I expected: Pretty straight forward. The dialogue was nice and flowery only when it had to be, unlike too much of Simon Furman's other recent work (Ryall must subdue him in a bit!), and I especially liked the Decepticon troops being absolutely terrified of MEGATRON. Old MEG's was an out and out sod here - So glad to see him depicted as such and I really hope the Movie continues it.

I only bought the black and white version (so far), so found the line art a bit dense & inpenetrable. I had trouble telling 'bot from background on occasion, although this wasn't the fault of the 'bot designs themselves (I have the same problem with IDW's uncoloured G1 art!).

Overall, pretty nice. I would have liked to see Cybertron in more detail, but the story must move on....

I ended up getting the misprint version last week from my comic shop, and i like it. It gives a good spotlight on Bumblebee and hooked me into the movie plot more than I expected. I didn't like the Allspark part but maybe the movie will change my mind. By the way, Small Spoiler, Bumblebee has balls of steel(figuratively).

How many verisions are there of # 1? Cover A & B, Covers A & B in black and white and 2 incentive covers? Is every issue like this?

I got the issue last week and for some odd reason ... mine was ok (no misprint). I actually liked the story to it so far. Love the "seekers" with their cyclops like head.

Near the end of the issue, Bumblebee says that his voice box is not the same anymore ... so I wonder if in the movie his voice is going to be all out of whack (Soundwave style?)

I think all of IDW's comics have several different covers for all of their Transformers lines.

I think the black and white editions are only for issue 1s. IDW did the same for Escalation #1, but not for any of the other issues in the series.

mikeyfuzz is correct though, it's probably a safe bet that there will be 2 regular covers and 2 incentives. The solicit for #2 says that covers will ship in a 1-to-1 ratio, so you can expect 2 covers and at least one special photo incentive.

i loved this issue and the way it starts, action off the bat and bumblebee the way he is ment to be, brave smart and well armed! a hero who doesnt see himself has a hero. and a good leader apparently. this will be a great charicterization of BB and it looks like all the bots and cons if they follow this way of going and allow the story to flow

only one complaint besides the really hard to see background and sometimes action:
i dont think i am going to like a silent bumblebee in the movie which it looks like it might happen
