Except it's not. It said that in the front page article, but that was a mistake. Not only do the included parts not attach to Optimus in the way they appeared in that one shot of the original cartoon, but the included Starscream head doesn't attach. In addition, the null rays and wings were NEVER part of the ensemble. Hot Toys just put these in to jack up the price, I'm sure, just like they did with the Megatron version.
$344 is a hell of a lot less than i expected.. especially when you factor in the prices that some of the iron man armors sell for and the weight of this figure. i think $344 is VERY reasonable for a hot toys figure like this. personally, i'm going to pass on it, though it looks great. what i'd REALLY like from hot toys is the entire AOE cast (or even characters from previous movies). i can't wait for DMK prime and if the world was perfect takara would produce more and more DMK's for the AOE cast, but i don't see them doing that. so, with the amount of detail that the movie models have, i think hot toys could really do something awesome if they started producing movie characters. .. especially considering most people would prefer masterpiece versions of G1 characters over something like this. movie versions of characters like this would be perfect since it's almost impossible for hasbro to make accurate transformable versions. .. so i REALLY hope that this is just a start and later on we'll see some movie figures.
MP 10 is perfect. No need for this... If they make a G1 Megatron, about 10 or 11 inches, for $200 or less, I'd definitely go for that for my mp collection. Don't give a rat's rear about gun mode.
It's crazy I don't know a single collector getting this. I am sure they are out there but I know nobody. My friends and I are even dropping a G on Artstorm's Prime, and have no interest at all in this. It feels like it was designed and made by someone with no knowledge of Transformers at all. There are just so many things off about it, the weird waist and codpiece, a total lack of detailing I mean his arms are just blocks...I could go on but...
Um, it's not always drawn on the animation models? Smarty pants? I was basically asking WHY would they have ever added that as a design element in the first place, being that the G1 TOY never had it. I understand they changed many things for the cartoon models. But they weren't moving megatron's cannon between his legs, they moved it to his back where it looked better. Prime's addition of a blue cock piece, in my opinion, is a stupid design addition that's pointless. And for some reason it's still used in a lot of his g1 designs. If you would have taken more than 5 seconds to read my post maybe you would have understood it.
I'm getting one. I don't care that it doesn't Transform. Yes it's expensive but welcome to Hot Toys. Also it's due to Sideshow's mark-up from the Hong Kong price. I only wish they got rid of the stupid Starscream parts. It could have been a little cheaper for parts no one even wants. Hot Toys said Bumblebee will probably be next. Megatron can't be far behind.
Sideshow exclusive version comes with the head of Starscream, which is now on a waitlist. Sideshow still has the regular version which is the same that Big Bad Toy Store offers
Yes i have. Best figure ever made but i have room for both in my collection. I'm a sucker for anything G1 Prime.
This is such an easy pass. And I'm actually a Hot Toys collector as well... But the figure is a pass. They should stick to doing movie masterpiece figures and avoid the Transformers line...
For most toy lines Hot Toys serves as the Masterpiece for collectors. However, Transformers already have Masterpieces that actually TRANSFORM to boot, look great and are less expensive. Hot Toys is barking up the wrong fan base with this. Some will bite but I think its safe to say it will be an easy pass for most.
There was a Megatron version shown at the same event this one was...I might wait and see if they do that one.
