This is the problem with comics. They tend to drag a character way too long. They should have killed Stark or Captain American in Civil War. There's only so much (plausible) story that you can bring to a character. But comic law states that no one truly ever dies. I for one am glad to see some character deaths. The only Civil War death that was 'big' was Black Goliath. I think that they need to kill off more comic characters and leave them to RIP. After reading Civil War and the 'other' issues, I realize that there are WAY too many comics to try and even keep track of and that's only the Marvel Universe.

I agree, if he is dead, leave him that way.

If this movie is in the works, save his return for 2009. close to the movie release date.

most of Marvel's readers will relish any tearing down of American icons in this day & age. This will be a huge sales boost for them until they bring him back.

Whedon wanted to bring back Colossus. And heaven forbid that one of Marvel's big name writers doesn't get to do exactly what they want. That pretty much ended the policy.

Whedon didn't want to bring Colossus back, Marvel asked him to, and he said he'd try and work it into a story.

    And Jean is still dead.

Until they need more Cyclops angst and she's resurrected. And than, when more Cyclops angst is needed, kill her off again and have him shack up with someone new temporarily.

Repeat every couple of years with Cable and Rachel thrown in for added family trauma (and occasionally whiny little brother Havok) and you have the essentials to a traditional Cyclops storyline. :lol

Yeah even the ultimate series is going to have its first coimic-resurrection (Beast) if the rumours are true. (which also explains why they felt willing to off professor X recently in UXM), which is a pity, one of things I liked about the Ultimate series was a feeling that it was all a bit more "for keeps"

I read the issue and it's announced on the news that he is dead and it shows him bloody and covered by a hospital sheet. However, I would say that it is open enough that it could be faked. However, the killer is a pretty good twist.

He doesn't really have any super powers, he's just a guy at peak physical and mental condition. And if that doesn't satisfy you, issue #26 is devoted to the autopsy.

It was 4 shots. One from a sniper on the roof right in Cap's back, and three at point-blank range into his chest. The point-blank shooter is revealed to be:
(Spoiler highlight to read)Shield Agent Sharon, who was apparently manipulated by some type of mind-control.

Yes, dead is never dead, but I still have to give Marvel props for even killing Cap at all in the first place. That took bearings of crome steel, I think.

And due to all the media this is getting, I doubt there will be any copies left when I finally get to the comic store. Stupid snow.

...how on earth does Captain America die from 4 bullets?

    ;)

Just sayin', it strikes me as something that would've happened at some point over the last couple decades if it were possible. Seems odd given that he's survived being frozen, being punched by people that are walking tanks, etc.

I'm guessing it's either special Cap-icide bullets, or something I can turn into a running joke.

...again. They feel the need to do that every few years to drive away their fanbase and win them back again later on. In a few months to a couple of years, they'll be getting out the plunger and working like mad to undo most of the damage.

Brubaker's Cap run has been the best thing since sliced bread so far.

Seriously if you've not read the last 2 years of Cap you've missed out big time - go and buy both volumes of Winter Soldier and both Red Menace volumes now. You won't read better comics in a long time.

So I'll be trusting him for where this is going.

Would have been nice for the thread title to have at least had a semblence of ambiguity IMO, but I do agree that you'd have had to run to the comic shop without touching TV or the internet while wearing loud headphones to not be spoiled.

Which leads me to how I hated it when DC did the same thing in regards to Superman's death (publically declaring titanic spoilers), but that's another discussion. ;)
