So I've seen a total of 4 Prowls and almost 6 Sunstorms between 2 different TRU's. I haven't bought any because (for me) Prowl is just too damn expensive. On the package of Sunstorm that I bothered to pick up and look at, it showed pictures of the old seeker mold with the hip kibble. Is this for real? Did Hasbro really release Sunstorm with the old mold instead of the new mold that Thundercracker was released in? I never bothered to look at the pre-release Sunstorm info and am shocked if this is the case.

Back to my title question, are you guys buying these are will they shelf warm? If I ever got this Prowl, it's likely the last G1 Prowl figure I'd ever need to buy, but that's not enough justification for $70 plus tax.

 

They are masterpieces, so no they will not shelfwarm. At least not in my area. And the picture on sunstorms box is wrong. it is the mp11 mold.

 

They may stick around longer than other MPs. Heck, some folks still have Acid Storm available. Not by me though. I suspect most places will be out of them in a month or two. Of course YOTH Prime is just now finally clearing out of places and that one came out back in early February. I suspect the next BOGO sale will make a decent dent in the supply, then the Christmas holidays will pick off any stragglers.

 

I secretly hope Prowl will shelfwarm, I might try MP out with him.

 

Prowl has a high chance of doing it, at the ridiculously high price TRU has him at. Sunstorm is a give-or-take situation. It'll be based on personal opinion.

 

IDK but the TRU by me still has about a dozen or so acid storms and several of the $100 Cybertron starscreams(forgot the actual name but I think you know which one I am talking about.)

Prowl might move slowly because of the price, but I doubt they'll shelfwarm. Of the 3 TRUs near me, only one had Sunstorm. None had Prowl yet(I'll be checking tomorrow). Acid Storm & YotH Prime are gone, too. Platinum Starscream-now there's a shelfwarmer, lol.

Can anyone state what the Takara pieces actually cost on the shelves in Japan? TRU US is ripping us a new one with this gouge. I'm happy it's available here and people have an option to get it domestically, but if you've no budget for this forget it.

 

At that price i still doubt they will shelfwarm, some of us paid at that price for takara prowl and i think they based that price on it. not to mention there's a bogo or promo's in TRU there right?

 

Theres a lot of acid storms here. The 2-3 trus around me has 8+ acid on the shelves at $69.98 each. And sunstorm in not moving fast too, the same trus have 6+ since last week. Maybe they keep restocking but who knows. Prowl will be slower cause he's the same if not more that Takara. Sunstorm is a better buy compared to Takara version which is over $150. It's just preference. Don't know what TRU was smoking when they decide on prowls price. He should have been around $40-$50 max. Prowl and sun are $80.99 and $92.99 respectively here if you did n't price match or had coupons. Wtf lol. If prowl should shelf warm it's going to be here I guess.

And if prowl doesn't sell well in the US due to the ridiculous price, we may not even see the light of streak or smokescreen. If that's the case then TRU had dug it's own grave early.

I'm hoping Prowl does because of the price. As is, I'm committed to the Takara releases unless the US price drops significantly.

 

I bought Prowl with a gift card and I'm thrilled. At least here in Michigan he's been flying off the shelves.

I can't say the same for Sunstorm since I wasn't actively looking - although, deep down, I selfishly hope he does because I'd be far more likely to buy him on some kind of clearance. I have an only-Autobot MP collection up to this point (and I own a handful of Deceptions period), so I'm not in a big hurry to get one but his deco looks so neat!

 

As for me I believe Prowl will be a shelfwarmer due to that outrageous price TRU is charging for him,but if we had been talking about Bluestreak that probably would have sold out in seconds.To me Bluestreak was and is a much more iconic character than Prowl,and speaking of Streak I always thought he looked 10X better whether his G1 original colors or his Diaclone ones in mostly blue (but honestly I wish I could have that version).And between the 3 I would totally skip Prowl and Smokescreen and go straight for Bluestreak.

And I hope I don't get trolled for this,but I am actually contemplating getting one of those MP Bluestreak KO's on ebay,I have seen them for about $36.00 with free shipping,does anybody else here have one and is it Takara Standard Quality or is it a cheap imitation?.Thanks guys.

 

A fellow board member saw 4 Sunstorms at our local TRU. I came by this morning to buy one and they were all gone.
