There have been some great Grimlock repaints on here but whilst the robot mode looks great, I thought the Dino mode was disappointing. So rather than just repaint I decided to try and beef up his Dino mode a little. First thing I did was swap his arms with the deluxe Scorn... I thought Scorn's arms had better proportions to Grimlock's Dino mode (although they are a little big for his robot mode). For his back section and tail I used the chest plate and tail from the Strafe construct-bot set... the size was just about right and it sits nicely in place with the tail wedged between the existing legs/tail. Removing the various clips was a pain but turned out quite well. I also added a piece to the back of Grimlock's Dino legs to give them a little more bulk. Other parts were taken from various other transformers and general fodder. The sword came from an Optimus Prime/ Megatron construct-bot set (it's a good size in bot mode and stores nicely in Dino mode). In Robot mode the tail and back section can be used as a shield or stored on his back. As with the other Dinobots Grimlock was given a metalic paint scheme (not screen accurate), this time I went for gold. Overall I am really happy with how this turned out. As always comments welcome. Nice drybrushing. Scorns arms work pretty well for dinosaur mode, but my absolute favorite part is the new teeth! Wow! The baby dinosaur look is something that still bothers me about the Voyager, but giving him those new teeth makes him look appropriately fierce. What did you use for them and how did you attach them to the jaws?
Cheers mate. Thanks. The teeth were actually pretty easy to do. All I used was some clear plastic (cut from the front of Grimlock's box). I cut one row of teeth then cut a few smaller ones which were then glued in the gaps. The whole thing was then painted black and dry brushed for the metalic look. As for how they are attached again it is pretty simple... there is a small gap between the plastic teeth and the outer dino head, the new teeth just slide into gap... the original teeth are still there and help to provide a bit of stability.
Great work on a poor mold! Bravo!! dino mode says;"me grimlock!" robot mode says, "I say there good chap!"
