Mp-09 is fine as Rodimus, but given the current direction of the line I'd assume an in scale Hot Rod is coming at some point. I also wouldn't mind an mp-09 somewhere down the line the fixed all of the fragility issues, even the ones present on v2 (ie. cracked backpack hinge, and exploding arm syndrome).

I would hope so. He is the one that changed the line to what it is. (Not the sole person of course. I don't want to dismiss everyone involved). But just listening to this guy go on about it it's pretty obvious this is one huge reason why this line is so great. Because the people doing it are just as passionate as the rest of us who want it. :)

I've no desire to see a Rodimus or Hot Rod re-do. I hate that that figure has so many QC issues but I'd rather they get to a dozen or two other amazing G1 MPs first. I guess I'm being selfish, though, because in spite of my v1's floppiness, I've had no breaks yet and he looks amazing on my shelf. In fact, he might be the best looking MP.

This interview made me really excited for wheeljack, him being a pain in the ass to engineer intrigues me! These guys are like Leonardo da Vinci with plastic.
We can not be mad at Yuki if he actually only had 12 days to do that MP05 Megatron:eek:  cannot wait to see if the brainmaster for Star Saber actually comes out of the cockpit and interacts with the figure, I can only imagine he has been itching to make up for LankiTron and compete with the big boys

I wonder that too sometimes. Since two of them were playing around with transformation ideas when they were in college, it leads me to believe they are fans just as much as us.

I agree with you. If they had made Rodimus by itself (without Hot Rod) we most likely wouldn't have had a figure with some flaws.

I can see that but I think eventually it really ought to be revisited by Kobayashi and revised, just as he revised MP-03 for MP-11. MP-11 is substantially easier to transform than Mp-03 and less fiddly. As a toy MP-11 IMO is much more pleasant to handle than MP-03.

I love the sculpt of MP-09 but I think some refinement can make it so much better as a toy.

Same here.. after picking up MP Prowl I'm not turning back after less-than-stellar offerings in AOE and current Hasbro toylines. The challenge in these MP cars is packing the engineering into such a small and tight space.

There's much interaction in this "cockpit" to keep me entertained at the moment.

I'd love a new stand alone MP Hot Rod that resembles the metalverse version. LOVE that headsculpt!!

You guys are insane if you think another Hot Rod is coming. The existing MP already looks virtually identical to that Metalforce one and obviously, it transforms too. There's pretty much nothing that needs changing, and within the confines of transformation, pretty much nothing they could change even if they wanted to.

Why is this talk in the Hasui thread? Kobayashi is the one currently working on a revised Rodimus Prime. ;)

Looks good, but I actually think the MP-09 head sculpt is far better - the Hot Rod MP face sculpt is one of my favourites.

Despite him saying in the interview that he doubted there would be a chance to revisit the character? :)  (Maybe you missed SydneyY's clarification, but it seems that the way the Japanese was expressed in the interview, when Kobayashi said he doubted he would get chance to revisit the character, he was talking in the present tense, as in still doubting it.) I very much doubt we'll see another Rodimus for a while, given how MP-09 was the catalyst for the reboot and how many other characters they have to get to. Like Dean, I'm more than happy with MP-09, which is one of my favourite MPs. Not that I'd complain if they produced a smaller Hot Rod in scale with the other cars, although you have to wonder if that would at all fit in with their concept of a "real car series"...

I always enjoy these interviews, especially when we're given insight behind the curtain as well as more hints of the future. Always keep in mind that we have the Masterpiece Speculation thread where you let your imagination run a bit more wild with these sorts of things: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...d-all-all-masterpiece-speculation-thread.html

That said, let's remember to always be civil with others, especially when we find ourselves at a point of disagreement, thanks.

Except you know, he's like twice the size of hot rod in his shortest configuration. Like i said earlier, mp-09 is fine as Rodimus, allbeit in need of a little refinement, but we really need a hot rod that fits the current scale instead of being almost as tall as Optimus.

I'm pretty sure Hot Rod was a good bit bigger than the s1 & 2 car bots. Not that much smaller than Prime, maybe around Ironhide's size. My MP-09 is always Rodimus anyways.

My MP Rodimus is always in Hot Rod mode, and he looks more "out of scale" than any other MP because of it. (especially in car mode)

(really, I want an MP *Hot Rod*, period. Car only, no compromises to allow an extra Winnebago mode)

    Yep, Ironhide's size

I'm starting to be tempted for MP-9 considering all the praise he's been getting lately, I love a good poseable transformer. But I'd only want him as Hot Rod, and he's just a little too big for that. Maybe we won't get any closer though?

TWELVE DAYS to design what could arguably be called the hardest transformer to engineer?!
No wonder it came out sub-par... Poor guy. No one could pull off THAT miracle.
If anything, if that's true I'm surprised it came out as well as it DID.
