On a random side note, has anyone seen or bought the new Nikko Remote Control Optimus Prime or Bumblebee things ($50)? It seems like it would be pretty crappy for $50, let alone including all the remote transforming features.

I didn't see GOTG yet and I've seen every other Marvel movie. The trailers didn't look that good to me. If they're an accurate representation of the movie, I don't think I'll like it much. I don't understand why I'm supposed to root for a bunch of characters who are outlaws with bad, arrogant attitudes. Never was into the antihero theme much in the '80s when it started either. I like good heroes and bad villains, not this gray area stuff. It's been a good year for Marvel movies for sure. Cap 2 and Spider-Man 2 were the best or close to it in the Avengers and Spidey series. So was X-Men for that matter, but the bar is set lower for that series. So I can see why people feel good enough about superhero movies to give this the opening weekend it got. I don't get the appeal though, other than the Avengers universe tie-in.

I personally thought ASM2 was complete garbage, and I really enjoyed the first one. Cap 2 though, man what an amazing movie.

I agree. After the 2nd ASM, I feel like it won't do so well and Sony is going to try to milk Spider-Man till there's nothing left.

Funny, I saw a Sony brand product in GotG.

ASM2 seemed to come and go so fast. Was it just me? I had to look up the dvd online to be sure it was actually even in theatres.

GOTG had a weird ad campaign, going for the cutesy and one-liners. But if you start watching the actual teaser scenes they were showing on late-night (you know the ones that are taken out of context and usually suck), it looked much deeper, grittier and more representative of what Marvel is wanting this movie to be--the next anchor in the Marvel movie series. Oh and from what I've read (no spoilers), all the movies thus far have been little breadcrumbs leading up to this. This is gonna be big.

This is the Marvel movie thread now. We've forgotten why we're actually here.

I'm not an antihero/gray area guy either...Cap is my favorite superhero. The movie is pretty lighthearted though, and yet doesn't reach that "silly" or "stupid" level. It all comes together nicely...I want to say more but it will spoil things. If you like the other Marvel movies you'll like this...it may not be your favorite, but I guarantee you won't despise it. Most of the outlaw nature of the characters is closer to Han Solo or Malcom Reynolds from Firefly.

I feel like all the big ticket items are hitting me all at once. I just say that the BAPE MP-10 is going on sale August 9...and I can't figure out how to pre-order that bad boy.

I can go either way for the most part. Having survived the "Spawn" generation that went a little too far, I think most of the new Marvel films (and DC for that matter) have all been pretty heroic in their own way. And I'd love that Malcolm Reynolds 1:6 figure, but why does everything have to cost ridiculous money retail anymore? Must we pay big bucks for anything better than a happy meal toy? Hell people are paying those big bucks for retro 5poa stuff. Crazy times.

So day six (or eight, depending on how you wanna count it) and still no SDCC banner, still no updated FAQ, still no word from Hasbro on what the hell is going on. Who's ready for some more disappointment today?

The more time I have had to think about things, the more I think I am going to pass. I got the kreons off of someone on ebay and the dinobots are so-so. I wouldn't mind that axe though, but that is probably sold out anyhow.
