It is nitpicking. People keep complaining how Unicron was "forgotten" after S1 but what exactly could Unicron do after he was put back to sleep? That was the whole point of Optimus opening the Matrix, to make sure Unicron doesn't awaken again so he wouldn't be a threat. And they also made it perfectly clear that trying to get rid of Unicron could damage or destroy the Earth. So again, it is perfectly fine if they didn't talk about Unicron again because there was no reason to. (I know Unicron was technically active but that is one of the many problems I had with Terrorcons Rising)

And people keep saying how David Kaye was unused potential, well what about Nolan North? He is another voice actor that somebody could say is unused potential because he never had a big role on the show. And what role could David Kaye play? IMO, all the voices in the show were good so its not like he would've been a savior, he got a cameo and I don't get why people can't be satisfied with that.

I think that's exactly the issue. Unicron shouldn't have been awakened period. He's a threat that didn't have much of a lasting effect on the plot and was downright underwhelming once you got past the rock monsters.

David Kaye is just one example. But his is more prominent due to just being a better voice actor and having a history of being a better voice actor. And I wouldn't mind it being a cameo if we actually had a lasting mixup in the cast. But we didn't, and Kaye was wasted away without much accomplished.

Uh, maybe you forgot how that means Earth has Dark Energon flowing through it since he is the Earth? I'd say that's pretty significant. Since, y'know, MEGATRON FIRES THAT CYBERFORMING LASER AT THE EARTH/UNICRON.

Well that fucking failed, didn't it?

Even though Earth is perfectly fine once Unicron starts inhabiting Megatron's body. Also, see the above where MEGATRON FIRES THE LASER AT EARTH THAT WOULD TURN ALL OF EARTH INTO A MECHANICAL SPHERE AND SOMEHOW EARTH = UNICRON ISN'T EXACTLY WORTH CONSIDERING.

But then that just makes Alpha Trion look like a fucking moron by launching all the "relics" at the planet where Unicron is imprisoned.

I don't think you quite understand. David Kaye is the guy who is the Megatron voice. He's the one who gave Beast Wars Megatron the infamous "yesssssss!" phrase. If you bring him in to be a guest VA, you don't do it so he just does random fucking mook voices nobody notices. Even Adventure Time, which actually does that with uncredited Weird Al VA clips, at least does it consistently and certainly more than what David was billed for in Prime.

I would've loved a flashback of Skyquake teaching Dreadwing how to shoot a gun or probably spar. That sort've thing I would've liked.

By the way...If you read some "articles" in the "Art Of Prime", you could see that staff see their contribution differently. It is said that they tried every opportinuty to extract every possible piece from every subject and every situation. But were limited as every department is.
    If I recollect correctly.

I know who David Kaye is, and I understand that people can be touchy with their nostalgia. Cameos happen and people may not notice it but it happens. If you really want to hear David Kaye, rewatch Animated, Beast Wars, or Unicron Trilogy, because he wasn't needed in Prime.

Goddamn I just realized you are a mod. When did that happen?

You wanna tell me how the surface of the Earth, which is also a thick layer of rock known as "the crust", isn't part of Unicron when he can terraform it like playdoh?

Actually, I was under the impression that Optimus was supposed to have been trying to kill Unicron, and the fact it IS a plot hole by your own admission that Unicron was merely "defeated"...yeah, Optimus failed.
Oh? Then how did Unicron wake up for the movie? Pretty sure the planets didn't realign again so soon.

You do realize that Alpha Trion WAS ONE OF THE GUYS WHO LOCKED UNICRON UP IN THE FIRST PLACE, right? Since he's one of the 13 Primes? It would be hard for him to forget a planet like Earth with oceans and the one moon.

And how would a technomagic hammer than can forge stuff be useless to anybody? He could build a whole new body for himself, since the whole idea of him possessing Megatron was due to the lack of one specifically for Unicron.

(note: all my answers are in italic because something broke with the posting editor and they won't change back)

So you admit he was a waste of money to be a guest voice that was totally wasted?

I think David Kaye was just cast because they felt like they had to, not because they wanted to.

Well for David Kaye at least, he liked guest starring on Prime, I mean he finally got to work with both Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. I mean regardless of one's opinion of the show, that's pretty damn awesome.

MECH was a huge dissappointment, we waited for two seasons for project chimera and all we got was an Optimus lookalike that got beat in the same episode of it's debut. Things might been salvageable if Silas was hooked into Nemesis Prime's body instead of Breakdowns(making Nemesis truly alive instead of a giant remote control toy), instead Nemesis was hauled off to some government warehouse to never be seen again. Not to mention all their actions had no real lasting impressions on the rest of the story, the government was distrustful of the Autobots at first but that was quickly handwaved. Their was also the mention that the reason MECH agents wear mask is because they're agents in the government, this should have been covered more, MECH could have been a serious threat seeing as they had agents in government possibly in high places, remember what HYDRA did to SHIELD in the live-action movies/shows.

I wasn't too bothered about what happened to MECH but I was disappointed that 'Nemesis Prime' was basically just a drone.

Also after all that hype about seeing a bigger TF universe, we more or less just got Cybertron and Earth, Nevada.

    Imagine this:

Season 1 finale- Optimus uses the Matrix to defeat Unicron. Loses all his memories in the process.

Spends all of season 2 and 3 trying to become worthy of being the Autobot leader again. Initially Ratchet or Arcee are forced to become leader, giving orders to Optimus.

Boom. Lasting impact for the entire rest of the show, which also plays into the whole, "TFP will show us what it means to be a Prime," line that the creators talked about.

Me too. Those little bits of character are what makes these guys more than plain ol' robots.

It's pretty obvious that Unicron simply can't be killed. Otherwise Primus, the 13, or all other Primes before Optimus would've done it.

Meh. Defeated but not put to rest.

Unicron wasn't locked up inside the Earth. He was defeated at some point and cast off into space to drift aimlessly. When he entered our galaxy, his lifeless body came into orbit around the sun. Then dust and debris started to accumulate on him. Fast forward a few billion years and the whole planet has formed around his carcass. There were no moons or oceans for Alpha Trion to forget as they didn't exist yet.

yeah the main humans rarely die in any any TF show- guess they think it'll hit too close to home?

Silas got a rather prominent death. The creepiest one was in the episode where Soundwave breaks into the Telescope Array, and as the camera pans by, you see multiple dead bodies thrown all over the place. It took several watches for me to finally catch that.

I guess so. I wouldn't mind it, we buy Transformers figures not Human figures :)

30 years down the line, we know our Transformers, is there any need for humans to 'relate' to? Oh wait, new fans, yippee!

Never noticed that! I guess, because you said it took several times to notice they might just be scared to do an actual focused human/s death/s.

heh yeah somebody here asked why there was no security at the Telescope Array, and after a while somebody popped in and said "they're all dead- watch it again."

Never would have caught it otherwise

Eh you only see three bodies(I think?) two whole ones and the leg of another - thought I remembered there being more.
Creeps me out because it took so long to notice they were there

Are you guys sure there weren't any more human deaths when the 'Cons attacked the military bases? I'm not recalling currently what episodes, but how about the one with MECH-Nemesis?

Didn't Bulkhead or Breakdown throw a car into one of their helicopters causing it to explode?
