    Black Zarak Non-Transformable Action Figure

The Summer Wonderfest event is happening right now in Japan. Here is the first news I've found so far. A color reveal for the previously known non-transforming Scorponok action figure, and a painted Black Zarak repaint!

Oh, I don't think Sentinel needs our help, considering how successful they are. Remeber, their a fully functional company with licenses and such.

    $480 is a hefty price for a non-transforming transformer

I really like these but given the cost and the cool design why no transformation? Scorponok just lays down and his legs fold up, that's about it.

Almost 500 dollars for an over-sized action figure?!? really?!?

I paid 83 dollars for the 24 inch tall 36 pound LOTR Balrog Action Figure and it was insanely detailed and just as poseable and even had electronics and it was just as massive even moreso when including it's massive 36 inch wingspan and tail. came with a large flaming sword and a flexible very long flaming whip.

I paid 100 dollars for Brave Maximus complete and it transforms.

I paid 180 for SDCC Metroplex and it also transforms and comes with a lot of extras.

Why is it needed to spend so much on these 2 particular pieces? Is there something more to them?

    Just wondering.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this. I think they look AMAZING... but it's just a HUGE action figure, yes? So then why is the damn thing like $500? It's not like they had to engineer it to transform.

Wow almost $500 for a non-transforming figure? No thank you. Now on the other hand I'd shell out $500 clams for the kick ass triple-changing headmaster version of Scorponok from Maketoys any day of the week

It's just not your thing. It's a premium figure, and there is a market for this stuff. Sentinel, Sideshow, Hot Toys, 3A, all have major licenses and all have relatively high prices, but they keep making them, which means someone keeps buying them.

If the thing was SUPER detailed, like moving actuators and pistons and stuff, flip up panels to reveal those things, I can see spending $500

As it is right now, not transforming and a (fair) amount of detail - I can't justify spending $500.

I've spent $500 much on other collectables in a similar vein (detailed, premium figures) but I can't do it on this.

Not really. It's a high end action figure, which would easily costs 60-80 dollars at a standard size, only this one is two feet tall.

Toy and model quality in japan tends to be higher than the US (common example, retail action figures are leagues ahead of their US counterparts). Materials/paint work etc all go into the price. As I said, considering the cost of a normal sized sentinel figure, this is about what you'd expect with the upscaling. Only complaint I have is that I'd have expected Zarak to come with his lance. Or Scorponok could do with a second toon styled head.
