"This is not war, it's human extinction!"
Transformers: Age of Extinction TRAILER 2 (2014) - Mark Wahlberg Movie HD - YouTube

Not being cocky or anything and I might of missed something but what, or where, was the threat of extinction to humans in AOE?

Assuming Optimus left Earth with Lockdown, Cemetery Wind killed off all the Transformers and KSI used the Seed only in Mongolia for more Transformium what was the threat? Ignoring Galvatron cause really he wasn't a threat in the movie.
    Did I miss something?
Was Optimus referring to the Creators perhaps? Could it be they might come to Earth and turn it into a new Cybertron with their weapons or wipe out humans for the hell of it? But then I remember Lockdown saying "The Creators want to sweep their Chess board clean", as in get rid of the the Autobots and Decepticons?

    I don't know I thought I'd ask anyway.

It's a bit of a stretch, but perhaps he was referring to humanity/Galvatron killing humanity with The Seed? The threat was Joshua's inventions, Galvatron included, getting the Seed and wrecking havoc with it.

I know you're trying to ignore Galvatron, but thats the only time I recall Optimus mentioning it. When he's chewing out Joshua for putting humanity in danger with his inventions after it's revealed Joshua has no control over his transformers.

'Poligies for messed up spelling/grammar. On a phone.

it was stated that the Transformium is a strong atomic or nuclear like bomb that could kill millions of people depending on where Galvatron would set it up.also Galvatron wasn't a threat because the autobots were there to stop his plans, but if his plan succeeded plus the fact the autobots were being hunted down assuming that all of the autobots are dead then Galvatron would create armies that would obviously kill or enslave the humans causing extinction.

I think he was referring to The Seed.

Just add it to the long list of things that were barely touched upon in the movie cause there were about 504 separate plot elements...

I just saw it as a throw away trailer line.

I had initially thought it meant that, with the Autobots destroyed, Galvatron could create his own army and rule unchallenged resulting in the eventual extinction of mankind.

Then it occurred to me that the US army would blast the shit out of the cons anyway as with every previous movie.

These days they often put in lines or scenes that don't make it into the final film.

Like 'Frozen's' trailer. A lot of kids siad they were looking forward to the line, 'that's no blizzard, that's my sister!' but that line was only made originally for an early character test, and wasn't actually part of the final script.

Trailers having lines that weren't in the movie?!

    WHAT A SHOCK.

In all seriousness, movies do that a lot. They have before, and will keep doing so.

Kung Fu Panda 2 had the line "I'm not the last panda!" giving away a big spoiler in the movie. The Last Airbender had Aang doing kung fu inside of a temple as the Fire Nation attacked.

You also had Optimus return screaming to Grimlock during their battle in the trailer that in movie got replaced with actual dialogue. I'm glad this change happened. I felt Optimus' roar a big too far on the 'cheesy' side.

As for the extinction dialogue, yeah, just made for the trailer to hype things up for promotion.

I hear what you guys are saying, but I wasn't asking why wasn't the line in the film, I was asking what was the extinction threat to humans. To me it felt like there wasn't one. I can see that why some you say it was Galvatron.
Only in ROFT was there a true threat of extinction, once the Sun's gone that's it.
DOTM was second close but humans would still be alive even if Sentinel fully transported Cybertron.

Galvatron and his army would use the Seed to cyberform Hong Kong and kill millions than make a new army and bring humans to extinction.

Pretty much this. Joshua said the seed would make enough Transformium to last 100 years. With that much of it, Galvatron could make enough Decepticons/Vehicons/whateveryouwannacallthem to wipe out a fair amount of the human population.

But I don't think Galvatron could have just created new bots out of raw transformium instantly, then the army and shit...

The closest thin Optimus said to "Its Human Extinction" is when he was talking to joshua before Grimlock roars at him Optimus said "Your science will be responsible for humanities extinction".

No he could not make new TFs out of raw transformium but he had the KSI facilities that he could use to make the new TFs. Probably force humans to continue to make new TFs and once they were made, he would power them up an give them life like he did with those in the movie. Remember, the reason they were making TFs and the reason Galvatron would make new TFs with transformium rather than other metals is because while transformium is unstable in its raw form, it is easy to "program" when refined. Transformers made from transformium would be easy for Galvatron to manipulate. We see in movies 1 and 2 that things turned into TFs by the Cube, became "wild" and very beast-like in nature. They were not made if transformium and so were wild and uncontrollable.

I took that line as having a double meaning.

    1. Galvatron getting a hold of the Seed and using it in the middle of one of the biggest cities he could find like he talked about and then continuing on to wipe out the rest of humanity with his drone army.

    2. Humans causing the extinction of the Autobots. Sorta like saying "Humans were the cause of the extinction of the Autobots."

BAH. I know I'm probably not explaining 2 very well but I can see it in my head.
