Looks like the "Hot Toys Megatron edition" if I had to guess by the chunks on his shoulders. They seem to be a scope and barrel assembly from Megatron. Not entirely sure I dig this new concept of Decepticon bits stuck onto Prime.

 

Hate Plague Prime was actually silver, which is what I mentioned.  

Forgot the gold one, though.

 

If anyone know anything about Hot Toys they love to milk a mold/licenses. Just look at their Iron Man line.

 

So what do you guys have to say about this "Hot Toys Megatron edition" which G1 series did this one base off from?

Does he also come with a severed Megatron head?
Will they release a display stand for all the faces he's ripped off?

You wanted to make add-on parts for Prime. Why not Powermaster?

It might as well not be considering how far from the source material it is.

And as far as HT milking molds - they're doing it wrong in this instance. I think most would agree that as a fandom we're used to mold reuse. We see it all the time and always have. Hot Toys is shooting themselves in the foot here by creating these weird add on pieces that barely resemble the things they're referencing instead of going for the easy money by creating flat out repaints that would directly represent Prime's various exploits and actually sell like hotcakes on a Sunday morning.

uh...why??! i mean i can sort of understand the starscream one based on one episode but this? inexplicable. i guess if anyone ever watned prime with a huge cannon? not feelign this. they'd be better off just releasing if withotu the extra nonsense and pricing it accordingly.

 

Just saw the real thing at Ani-Com here in HK and all I can say is ... bleaugh.
Both it and the Starscream one were uninspiring.

Neither Hot Toys Primes are homages to anything.

This one is not homaging Guiltaur and the Starscream one is not homaging Megatron's Master Plan. People need to stop reaching, really. The toys are just dumb attempts to make Optimus "bad ass".

 

I wish I could support this, but it's so bizarre and not true to Transformers at all.

So he went Movie Prime on Megatron... cannibalizing him for parts as if he were RotF Jetfire...?

 

 

Only Question is.... Who's Optimus gonna come for next?!
