MMC Feral is pathetic, Ares is the true Predaking, the king of the beasts

 

For Rex, i prefer the shortest setting since he looks more pumped, and med is the setting I mostly keep him in since he looks better with hex and like that he is taller.

So how does everyone like the tfc tantrum in comparison to the other members? He looks like the best of bunch.

 

Maybe it's because in the photos, both Ares and Feral Rex are depicted with a wide-legged stance; but (as I understand it) Ares can adopt a more straight-legged stance - which would invariably make him taller than as depicted in the images. Thoughts?

 

I hate that too. I want to paint it but don't believe its worth the hassle. I wonder if that piece can be cast in yellow?

 

Ares has a few height/stance altering options. All of them make him taller, but in all honesty, he is the bulkiest of the three, and for me that's all I need. The king should be a hulking mass of bot, a slender predaking is just wrong to me. One with a torso too small is just wrong.

He should have big arms, legs, torso etc. Rex looks so bottom heavy, and UT offering looks like an Olympic gymnast compaired to the bulked out monster Ares is. Ares is not perfect, but it's the closest to how I always thought predaking should have been since I first had his g1 toy so many moons ago.

im am still getting(in the process of getting) all three tho...ares is my fav of the 3 for that very reason..

 

yup you can also do thigh "cheats" on nemean in torso mode noticed this the other day when messing with him. not sure how well it will support the weight as i currently do not have any of the limb bots but should have the 3 that are currently released tonight (tuesday)

and i personally think nemean has a pretty nice bot mode. leo dux to me anyways always looked a little chubby in photos

Yeah I re-measured and I was wrong Ares is indeed taller but only just barely.

Its not really a fair comparison though as Rex actually can't stand straight and his neck line is lower than his shoulder line and the top of his head isn't as tall. But anyway here's the hard numbers I got.

Ares with legs completely straight: 34 centimeters.
Ares at standard A leg pose: 33.8 centimeters.
Rex at medium leg setting: 33 centimeters.
Rex at maximum leg setting: 34.2 centimeters.

I now regret taking part in this discussion entirely. A freaking centimeter. Cause that's worth mentioning.

Nah! It is fine! No one blamed you anyway. And about the height, i wasn't trying to turn it into a pissing contest, merely i was trying to showcase a fundamental shortcoming of rex. You either make the torso larger than the limbs and you get ares or you scale it to the limbs and all the extensions in the world don't make up for the smaller torso i.e. rex. I also noticed that even without heals ares is much more stable than rex. If you don't use the small stalks on rex's feet he easily tumbles backwards. Then again the wings might change that...

Lazy just out of curiosity would you mind weighing phlogeus and talon without the wings? I have a sneaking suspicion that phlogeus is heavier...thx!

 

I don't have a scale to get exact numbers but Talon certainly feels heavier than Phlogeus without his wings.

 

the only honest issues I have with these guys is the clusterfuck of colors and the A/E/C Era Quality of the Plastic TFC uses in all of their toys.

If they made a more simplified color pallet and fired the person who's drunk at the color application choices, these guys would look pretty insane in my book.

Other than that, they look aight to me.

so this morning i had a package earlier then expected (normally do not get UPS deliver out where i live until 6pm these came at 11am)



as a team they look really good can not wait for not-divebomb these are also the weapons i will display them with not-tantrum will get a second fist mace wile dive bomb will get both of the heel cannons



the one design complaint i have is lack of wrist swivel makes some poses pretty hard to pull off like the sword pose phlo is in or the under slung cannons on conabus


only complaint i have do to Q/C my phlogeus has a huge paint smear right on his left shoulder the one facing outwards when combined unless i go cartoon acurite and make him the left arm.

 

Looks like you have the same thought I do: the scimitars are more appropriate for Phlogeus, and the picks/war hammers work better for Conabus or Aethon.  

 

the fact you can get ares in a straight leg pose really helps compared tot he constant A stance of Herc/perseus
