Saw AoE for the 4th time today, however it was the first time my roommate had seen it. As soon as we left the auditorium his first reaction was something to the effect of, "Megatron is so old," meaning he was sick of Megatron being brought back. I thought it was a weird comment considering my roommate is a passive fan of the movies and Lockdown was the big bad in the film, at least on screen. It did get me thinking though that others may share his view and I think it'd be a good idea to differentiate Galvatron from Megatron. Like in the cartoon I think Galvatron needs to have a crazed personality. He doesn't necessarily have to be insane like his G1 counterpart, but maybe throw in some scenes where he has trouble thinking due to the fact his brain was essentially uploaded into another body. Something to make it clear it's a different character and offer a different feel for a new antagonist. As for the Dinobots, whether their origin story is told or not, they need to speak in future films. Perhaps their silence and feral behavior could be chalked up to their inprisonment for centuries on Lockdown's ship. As they interact with one another freely now they slowly learn to communicate and their social cues develop as time goes on. This could also explain why their speech is at a child like level if the writers choose to go that route. Personally, I think FoC Grimlock's language use is perfect for all of the live action Dinobots.
Well, I doubt Galvatron will be any different from Megatron apart from the new voice actor and his ever-changing alternate mode. But he's a staple. I think he'll get some new soldiers and fight Optimus again and that'll be it. But I hope he gets some more time, more dialogue/action, more interaction with Prime. He's that important that he shouldn't be shunted aside by the new threat of each film. The Dinobots, though, deserve more backstory and screentime. They have knowledge/secrets that could pave the way for future instalments. And they should have dialogue as well. These guys are so badass they must return for TF5.
Megatron is always Awesome to have on screen, I was really pleased to hear he was now turned into Galvatron. You can never have the Decepticons without him.
The Dinobots rampaged across the earth levelling city after city until they died of the common cold off screen. The earth was swiftly rebuilt and Galvatron became CEO of the FCC.
Megatron was only brought back to life ONCE, now a second time in AOE as Galvatron. What's everybodys grudge?
I doubt many knowledgable fans of Transformers as a whole have much of a beef, especially if they understand they way movies work. The 2007 couldn't really end on a cliffhanger as they weren't sure how Transformers would do at the box office - there had to be closure, so Megatron was killed. That being said, it'd have been hard to have continued the series without the 2nd biggest Character in TF lore so they brought him back immediately. The writer's strike really dented RotF and, IMO, the entire first trilogy. I wish they'd have had more time to plan out the entire trilogy instead of going movie-by-movie. Have a good, solid plan for Megatron after he returns, and reformat him into Galvatron before he (seemingly) is killed again.
I'm sure this is just their way of getting Galvatron a new body. His spark (mind essence) will manage to survive and he will get screen time in the next film i'm sure. That being said he was my favorite character in this movie. The dinobots also deserve more of a backstory, voices and screen time. I was totally bummed about the lack of screen time the dinobots got in this movie.
I agree, and felt a bit like your roommate did. I guess it was just such a breath of fresh air to have Lockdown as the villain, and felt like a return to status quo with Galvatron. Galvatron needs to be different than Megatron- a crazy off their rocker villain would be something new for movieverse.
I think Galvatron has a great future in these films. As for the Dinobots, I'd imagine Bay and co. would get them voices. It'd be hard to tell their personalities if they couldn't talk.
I'm so happy Megatron is back there was never one moment I didn't enjoy seeing him on screen in the last trilogy
the dinobots probably will talk in tf5 they might speak like they usually do in the cartoon because unlike the autobots they never learnt English thought the internet but just through observation of earths inhabitants
It's not a grudge if you're okay with it. I enjoy Megatron/Galvatron, but he deserves to be at the forefront or at least come to it. Since ROTF he's been a supporting role and has steadily decreased in significance: - he took out Optimus and Sam in ROTF, then got his head busted open - he shambled around DOTM till the very ending, then he got killed - in AOE he was reborn, and didn't do a lot in Hong Kong except issue orders, rave at the Dinobots and escape. I really hope that TF5 gives him a meatier role. You know what's sad? I didn't really think these films needed Unicron, but now I'd rather have him than the Creators. And if Unicron appears in a film, Galvatron should work with him while finding a way to betray and subjugate him.
Actually technically he's only been brought back to life once because don't forget Megatron survived Dark of the Moon remember?
As long as Galvatron doesn't suffer villain decay like Megatron ( Spoiler he ) did before then yeah I'd say he has a bright future.
Oh yeah, Optimus didn't tear out his spark. He was instead sentencing him to stasis lock as a head. Damn Optimus, you made Megatron a quadriplegic head?
Well as Brains said in AOE Megatron wasn't as dead as everyone thought. Obviously Optimus intended on killing Megatron in Dark of the Moon but he obviously survived and remained a non-functioning and immobile head while he sent the Insecticons to influence the creation of Galvatron so he could eventually return stronger than ever.
