This film had a hell of a lot of set up for the next installment, which is more than the previous ones ever did with their characters and story. The Dinobots intro was awesome and I look forward to the next film (which is a first for me after seeing a Michael Bay transformers film.)
The one thing that I did expect more from was the fight between Optimus and Grimlock. It was more like Prime was giving him a quick spanking.
Most definitely. They barely get any screen time, No personality, or character development, No origin story, No on screen names (including the term Dinobot) They barely even look like dinosaurs, Not the traditional 5 number, It's safe to say they don't even meet my personal Dinobot requirements. Were they cool? Yes, but not as Dinobots.
no i thought they were just right honestly, anyone whose seen the trailers shoulda known they were only gonna be in the final act.
Only in G1 have the Dinobots ever been dumb, I prefer the versions we saw in FOC (where Grimlock just had a really bad case of anger management). I would prefer Bay's Dinobots are more like that, in fact there is no evidence to say that they won't be more like this.
How about; Have Galvatron acquire the sparks of the Autobots that were stored on Lockdown's ship and turn them into his army. Similar to Transformers; Robots In Disguise this method could introduce the movie-verse Combaticons and Scourge. As for the Predacons - they could essentially be a rogue group of Transformers that Galvatron releases from Lockdown's ship to cause havoc and overwhelm the Autobots - thus forcing the Autobots to get the Dinobots help. Then TF5 would feature several different factions fighting against each other; The Autobots teaming with the Dinobots, while The Decepticons team with the Predacons, while the Creators return chasing Prime in order to eradicate Earth's organic life.
The Dinobots were badass but damn I REALLY wish they went into more detail about them. At least Optimus explaining how they got their legendary status. If OPTIMUS PRIME calls you a legendary warrior, you know you've done some badass shit. That bridge scene for instance could have shown a 30 second little fight scene of the Dinobots in their robot modes just wrecking little drones, but it's whatever.
According to AoE, the spark contains the bot's memories. So sparks put into new bodies should have pretty much the same personality as the original. Why would Autobots work for Galvatron?
Idk if you noticed but Galvatron has some pretty blue mystic power where he can infect and posses robots, I don't think it'd be a problem for him to infect one's spark, forcing or convincing that bot to work for him.
Same logic as in 'Beast Machines' they'll work because he'll manipulate them into doing it via either technologically controlling them or threatening them with death.
I know in years past, discussing then-upcoming TF 2 and 3, Bay said he didn't want to ever use the dinobots. AoE felt like "I still really don't like the dinobots, but here they are if we must." It felt similar to that whole Spider-man three deal, how Raimi said he never wanted to use Venom as a villain, but Avi Arad forced him into it. Then he half-assed Venom's story and the fans were disappointed...
Its still kind of ironic to me. Two of the big things that people were upset about in the first movie: Optimus can't be a flat nose truck, he wouldn't be big enough We appreciate your interest in Frank Welker coming back but we feel his voice is just to cartoony. BOTH happen in AoE! What happened to Frank Welker being to cartoony?
