Conceptually, The Fallen was the coolest and most powerful villain

He may not have been depicted very well, but conceptually he was the coolest and most powerful villain in the movieverse.

    • He could instantly transport himself from one location to another via space-bridge technology, and much more efficiently than Jetfire (recall that Jetfire and those whom he brought along would often materialize in the air and crash to the ground).
    • He had telekinetic powers, being able to lift multiple, extremely heavy objects within a very large radial distance.
    • His life span was far greater than that of an ordinary Transformer.
    • He was impervious to attacks from ordinary Transformers.
    • He was an original Prime.

I don't think Megatron, Sentinel, Galvatron, or even Lockdown are as cool as he is conceptually. Perhaps they were depicted better than he was, but the ideas behind The Fallen's character are far greater that those of the aforementioned characters.

Where you see 'coolness' I see badly written.

    • Why even bother having an alt-mode with the capacity of flight if you have the ability to teleport. This highlights a flaw in their character design/abilities. Its a similar issue to the new Transformation method in AOE, from a conceptual standpoint it begs the question of why even have an alt-mode.
    • Telekinetic powers feels like a cop-out to me, a way of having the character look superior without actually giving them any real advantage. Like Prof X in that respect - his powers are never used for anything he couldn't do otherwise.
    • His life span was the same as any other Transformer, as proven by Jetfire and Sentinel you can even resurrect and re-energise dormant/dead Transformers.
    • Technically he wasn't impervious to other attacks, it was simply the fact that no other Transformers even bothered to attack him. As for the 'prophecy' that only a Prime can kill him - that was bullshit made-up by the script writer so that Prime's death had more meaning
    • Sure he was an original Prime, but the Primes are all shown as idiots who killed themselves to hide the Matrix. The brain power of lemmings...

Their are some good aspects of the Fallen conceptually - such as his image inspiring the Decepticon insignia, but the other points you've brought up don't really support his character in my opinion. The aspects mentioned just highlight his main issue - he is a poorly conceptualised villain whose only good aspects are based off his other representations.

The Fallen had no alt-mode, so your first point makes no sense.

The Fallen was indeed the coolest conceptually. There is just more to him with his ancient history and being an original Prime. He was the most poorly portrayed villain in the series. Being built up the entire movie and then doing basically nothing. He had the most potential be a truly epic villain and it failed spectacularly! If only I hadn't built him up before ROTF was released (both in my head and to my friends).

Conceptually the Fallen seems like a Transformer a child would have made up after seeing the 07 movie for the first time.

"Yeah the Fallen is the ultimate Decepticon, so evil and powerful even Megatron bows down to him! He has a cool staff and can teleport and lift things by thinking about them and he is totally invincible against everything except Optimus cause he is my favorite :D "

I still think Sentinel is the coolest and best villain of the series.

Let me ask you this; What is the Fallen's motivation? And don't say "To destroy the sun and revive Cybertron!". That's a goal, not why he does what he does. What drives him? Patriotism? Xenophobia? A hatred of the other Primes? Greed?

    We don't know.

And that's why he's a shit character. And no ammount of BS superpowers or ancientness can change that.

Yes, he does. He turns into an alien jet.

From what I saw in the movie The fallen is actually a very interesting character if you think about it. He was willing to destroy planets with life if it meant he could make more energon which would actually help keep the transformers alive. So he was really just making the hard decisions. Of course the other primes didn't approve of destroying life but the Fallen didn't care. So in a way he just wants to keep his people alive no matter the cost. Did he hate the primes? You could say that he did but only because they were against what he was doing.
And the fallen wasn't an alien jet. The only reason he could be considered one is because hasbro couldn't sell a transformer toy that didn't transform.

But why was he willing? What drove him to such lengths?

He was by far the most powerful, but was by far the least effective.

The Fallen should have killed Prime while he was disoriented at a weak state. Use his psychokinesis to separate him from everyone else's protection and with Megatron kill him.

Due to The Fallen's primeval and primordial origins, he is outdated in Cybertronian cognitive intelligence to think at all.

For once, I totally agree. The Fallen was just a terribly utilized character. Had potential, but basically got shafted.

As for the Fallen's powers beside space bridging the TK or tractor beam tech isn't really unique to him. In DOTM we saw both Optimus and Sentinel handle the Matrix floating like the original Primes did. In AOE we saw Optimus attract the Seed towards his hands.

So the whole the Fallen is stronger than his brothers may refer to his TK/tractor ability being stronger. But as shown in the hologram they can harm the Fallen.

The Fallen may have to ability to repulse most enemies and projectiles but the Primes are immune to that mostly as they have the same ability themselves.

So can an ordinary TF kill the Fallen? Sure but they'll have to take him by surprise.

Well it seems the fallen viewed Cybertronians as superior to other races probably why he hated humans. So he felt superior and thought he could rule the universe. Pretty much every Decepticons motivation really.

Well I really loved how somebody else (sorry can't remember who) put it in another thread. It was something like:

"The Fallen is the poster child for wasted potential."

He appeared too soon in the movie universe. Would've been cool if they slotted him for TF4 onwards .

Totally true, but that would have required a long term plan and as much as I love the movies we know they haven't really had one. At least not with the original trilogy. The new trilogy it looks like they have a plan for where they are going.

What hard decisions? Our star is insignificant compared to the red giants out there and we have yet to find life on another planet. There was literally nothing for the Fallen to gain by selecting our solar system and inviting the wrath of an entire lineage of Primes aside from a very miniscule amount of Energon.

The Fallen sucks at his job.

With the revelation of the Creators I can see the Fallen hating organics because of his experience with them.

With their Transformers should follow orders and no mixing between species I can see them as an order obsessed bunch.

The Fallen is described by Jetfire as a chaos and apocalypse loving guy. Cleansing the universe of organics is part of that.

The Primes destroys suns but their rule of not harming planets with life may be traced to some shame of entire worlds being wiped out to create their race.
