Try whatever threads. This has been an ongoing thing. I'll post somewhere, he'll swoop in and, without commenting on the topic, fly into a bizarre rant only partially based in reality, and try and claim I'm trolling or bullying others. I took it here because it was the only place that was even remotely suited to it, but it was a flame war and it didn't belong on the site. I've realized that, and it's done now.

You're not being rude about it, but the fact remains; FORUMS ARE NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION. What you're suggesting, where we all stay in our rigidly divided areas of what we "like", is not a solution to what's wrong with the Movie forum. Because, the fact of the matter is, discussion are good. It's why we're here! It's a Transformers forum, not a Transformers fan club. We discuss. It's healthy!

I don't like the Movies. But I post in the movie forums. Do you know why? Because I like to talk about film and film theory! I like to have debates. It's fun! And I assume others out there do to, because threads keep coming out discussing the quality of the films, or polls comparing the Movies to other parts of the franchise, and I can't imagine they'd keep coming if they weren't interested in any dissent- After all, what'd be the point?

And if we relegate ourselves to individualized echo chambers, like a lot of people would suggest we do, then what's the point of discussion? "I like the Movies." "Me too!". How dull.

But there is an issue with respect and, ahem, quality control. The Movie board is a warzone right now. But the solution isn't to get rid of dissent. It's to wait it out, because it's always like this around a Movie's release. I've read the old threads... It's not pretty. But eventually it'll rebalance to like three guys who don't like the Movies, and a bajillion who do, mostly engaging in calm discussion. The bad elements will tire themselves out, and disappear when the other side starts to. You just have to wait it out. Nothing to get upset about.

 

No, it's not suited for this thread. It's about respect. Even if he attacks you on other threads, I don't see it and don't need to see it.

I'm glad you realized that though. Let's at least for this thread, stick to the topic and theme. I would greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure others will as well.

Not really upset. Maybe if there were more discussions on things like what people would do to fix the plot, editing, etc...Id agree with you. Most of it is just people calling it terrible and saying that its bad because ______. Yes, we know its not the best, but lets move past the repetition and all of the fighting. Thats why I say people who straight up dont like the films should just chill else where because usually its like a song on repeat.

It's not just haters. It's the "fair weather" fans that show up with their OH SO ORIGINAL defenses that NO ONE has thought of yet, and go into fits of volatile rage at the IDEA of dissent.

Saying it's bad because ______ is the same as saying that fixing ______ would make it better. It's nothing but a difference in terminology. For instance, there's no real difference in saying "These movies suck because none of the characters are made even remotely empathetic to us as an audience, either to maintain some juvenile "cool" factor or simply because they're annoying." is the same as "These Movies would be improved if they were less concerned with being cool or attempts at sophomoric humor, and were trying harder to create empathetic characters with clear feelings and goals."

It's the same complaint. All (accurate and fair) criticism is constructive. Tomato tomato.
