Like many of you I’m sure, I was absolutely thrilled when I saw the pictures of the new Generations Waspinator last year and anxiously awaited his release. He’s got to be one of the most show accurate Beast Warriors ever, along with Rhinox and Rattrap. But I was equally dismayed to find out that some people have reported problems with Waspy, such as the plastic near his shoulders. Something about pin joints and stress marks forming on his green shoulder pieces.

Some people have been able to transform their Waspinators several times without any breakage. Others have had him break with only a few transformations.

So, now that it’s been a while since his release, I was wondering how all of your Waspinators are holding up? Are most of them still good? Or are most having this stress mark/breakage problem?

For those who have had the problem or heard of it, have you done anything to try to prevent it?

Does the problem just cause visual issues, or does it interfere with the functionality of the toy?

I’m hoping that this problem is just a fluke from the first run, and not affecting the majority of Generations Waspinators. I was in love at first sight, huge Beast Wars fan and really want to add him to my collection.

Mine's perfectly fine. The hips are what bother me. They're far too loose on mine. A slight nudge and he'll do a split.

    Still a great figure, though.

I can't tell you about mine as it's in the package, lol, but my nephew actually plays with his (imagine!) and let me tell you, he beats the SHIT out of that thing and it still keeps ticking, no issues. His only complaint is when he can't find his gun!...but to be honest, he's gotten pretty floppy joints, but that's to be expected. Either way, if it survived my nephew for the last three months, that's good enough for me.

Do it. I'm a huge BW-fan too and I love this figure, he's perfect both as a toy and as a representation of the character. I don’t have any problems with him, at all, and I transformed him over and over again.

I personally own the Takara release, I don’t know if that makes any difference on the subject, but I don’t even have a single nitpick about this guy. Every joint is tight, perfect articulation and the transformation works perfect.

I admit the shoulders could be a problem, and I don’t say everyone lied when they said they had slight damage on them, but I don’t see it happening on mine.

If you're as big of a BW-fan as I am and like Waspinator as much as I think you do, buy this figure. You will love it, I promise.

hasbro's QC is non-existant. I want to see these toys last 20 years...

My waspy's hips are way too loose, same with the takara evrsion. Probably mold degredation before the mold has been used....

Mine has stress marks at the shoulder pins. Luckily, there's no cracks.

If mine has any stress at the shoulder pins I can't see it, he's just fine.

And mine is the Hasbro version. I don't care for the metallic paint on the Takara figure.

I've no issues with the shoulders on mine. As for the loose hips, SUPERGLUE TO THE RESCUE!!!

Man, I should take stock in Gorillaglue...

It's good to see that most of your figures are fine after all this time. Do most of you whose figures are still fine, own the Hasbro or Takara versions? Personally I like the brighter Hasbro coloration more, and I would also imagine the Hasbro one would be friendlier to my wallet.

Perhaps I'll wait until the second wave is released in September (or so I heard on another thread, I don't know these things for sure) and hope that the shoulder thing was a freak occurence from the first wave, and that quality control has stepped up for the second. This Waspy is too awesome to watch him break on me! And yes, I do plan on unboxing him and transforming him regularly!

PS - on a completely unrelated note, I saw some references to Bionicle in people's signatures and avatars....very cool! I'm currently reading the 27 original comics right now, after having lost them for years. Good stuff!

I've gotten cracks along the shoulder pins, but it doesn't seem to get worse as the crack seems to act as a "pressure valve " for stress, and you have to go looking for the marks/cracks to see them, so I'm not too concerned.

Of course, I don't transform it much anymore either.

I don't know. Mine has been in wasp mode since Christmas, and I'm too afraid to transform him back.:(

Takara. And I personally, love the paint palette Takara did. Especially if you look at them side by side:

I don’t like the bright green on Hasbros, together with the bland yellow it makes the figure look kind of cheap. Many people say the metallic gold on Takaras Waspinator would look off, but that’s really not the case. It's not a bright metallic paint like the chrome on the Transmetals, its a more tarnished metallic coloring that looks excellent in my opinion. Add the additional paint on the head and it sold it for me.

Okay, I have to import most of my figures anyway, so I didn’t bother paying shipment costs for him. Perhaps its much easier for you to just go to a toy store or buy him at an online retailer in your country.

In the end, the choice is yours, but maybe if you want to import something else, you could just add Waspi to your order and justify the shipping cost a little more.

I do the same, I have no problems with him. And while I heard some have stress marks on their figures, I never heard someone saying their Waspinator actually broke apart. As long as you handle your toy gently and don’t act like a brute, everything should be fine. And we have Canbot's word, Waspi survived his nephew who joyfully plays with the toy, and its still in one piece.

I remember Bionicle, played with it as a kid :)

    Haha, Waspinator.

Adorable. I'll let you know if I ever see one.

I remember seeing on the other Waspinator thread that some people were trying to fix the stress marks by shaving something down with an Exacto knife or something? I'm not sure what they meant, but it was something along the same lines as what you're saying - some kind of measure designed to take the pressure off of that spot. Do you know what they mean, or have any experience with that process? I've never changed a Transformer before and wouldn't want to mess it up, especially if I don't need to.

I do see what you mean, and I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with Takara figure. He's actually a lot more intimidating, he has more of a bad-guy look to him with the darker colors. But to me, I feel the Hasbro colors are closer to that of a real wasp insect. I've heard that Hasbro sourced their coloration from pictures of Waspy during the day, while Takara's resemble him as seen at night.

Either way, I think I'm definitely gonna pick up Waspinator once I have little money for fun things again.

And yea, Bionicle is great! I'm starting to read the wiki's now too. It's got such a rich storyline.
