Technically speaking, doesn't Predacons Rising and the first three episodes of Animated count for this? Or Transformers Animated - Transwarp?

I'm going with 2007. It had a 'discovery' factor that was really fun and designs that were so different that they were appealing. The other four live action movies, while fun in their own right, have all failed to capture the spirit of the first one.

    1986 followed by 2007.

Hopefully 2016 and 2018/9 will be good.

None of the above. I'm picking Predecons Rising.

I think the first one (live action) is still the best, overall. Though I still enjoy ROTF and DOTM... And haven't seen AOE, yet.

TFTM ('86) is very fun for nostalgic reasons for me, but certainly not the best... Though the brutally played out deaths of Prowl, Brawn, Ironhide and even Starscream (not to mention the corpses of Wheeljack and Windcharger) still haunt me to this day! :p

TF 2007 is the best all around movie (of the films that have Transformers in them).

TFTM is the best Transformers movie.

AOE was fucking fantastic. It makes the last 3 movies seriously look like some twisted joke.

1986 is full of gaping logic and story holes. It is not a well constructed story or mythology by any stretch of the imagination. The characters are one note archetypes (except for Springer and Arcee, who are kind of just there). The story is cliché and a pretty blatant Star Wars ripoff.

It is also the best Transformers movie ever made.

Because it's so functional. The Movie moves at a solid pace, it hits all the emotional beats it needs and no more. None of it's indulgent or repetitive, and the storytelling is extremely economic as a result. It doesn't meander for three hours. The characters are one note, but they're incredibly colorful and well characterized. You can't confuse them because they're made extremely distinct. And yes, the story is cliché. But you know what? It understands the function of those clichés perfectly. A well worn storytelling mechanic used well is still a storytelling mechanic used well.

Definitely the '86 movie. That's not to say I don't love the Bay movies (which I do), but the original is just soo good!

I don't get that complaint at all. Despite the lightsaber reference. Granted they are both standard hero journey archs, but they have been around waaaay longer than Star Wars.

Two nearly duplicate threads, neither including every possibility, who wants to just start the 3rd tomorrow with Predicaons Rising and the 4th day after with the discussed episode mash-ups?
