So I love Age of Extinction, I feel more thought went into explaining key points and it created more of a strong persona for its characters but I feel a little cheated. Throughout the movie there is countless CGI mistakes or damaged renders. Even the way the movie didn't show some very interesting fight scenes annoyed me, like how stinger chasing hound, drift and crosshairs ended up or why bumblebee just disappeared in the middle of the lockdown fight. I have a feeling that the period of time given for the CGI to be done wasn't enough and thats why these things weren't elaborated on. Opinions guys?
What countless CGI mistakes? Damaged renders? Not saying it didn't happen, I just didn't notice them in my 3 viewings. Maybe I can go look for them next time I see it.
What CGI mistakes? All I recall was Rainbow Dash. This one had less hand-to-hand, but had way more Transformers shootouts, which I was happy with. It was a cool change of pace. I hope they do more of that in the next. I mean, they have badass projectile weaponry, so might as well use it.
Dragonzzilla, you have the best account picture and sig out of everyone on the site. Out of EVERYONE.
Theres a few like at one point bumblebees wheels on his back are completely different to his robot mode and later in the ksi building they are exactly how his wheels look in alt mode. Damaged renders theres a few scenes were lockdowns ship is missing pieces between shots and its the same with the autobots between shots. Another mistake i forgot to mention is the scene were the autobots are about to climb the ship crosshairs lips are moving but no words come out.
The reason why you don't see how all the Autobots got to their place fighting Decepticons because all the action was happening in real time. The movie doesn't cut to another character's fight and then pick up where you last saw an Autobot when the movie returns to him
CG is indeed a little rushed and might say ''buggy''. That's because ILM's new Asia divison worked greatly on the film, and they're kinda new to this franchise and its schedule and they're a tiny bit of a step back from the original ILM. But I think they did a good job, they delivered the movie in time with least errors. TF5 will be huge improvement I believe.
Yes! Animation errors return! It's just like G1 now! I'm kidding. I will look for those. I was so into the movie I probably missed all of those.
Cheated? No transformation animation of Drift, Crosshairs and Hound. Not even a single scene each of it. Yeah, I feel your pain. Of course Drift turned into a copter but as a car? nope. Maybe ILM don't know where to put Drift's sword in Bugatti Veyron mode.
I'm pretty sure AOE had the least amount of robot fights. I was surprised and disappointed by how little robot fights there was.
This ^ Feel that a lot of the CGI wasn't done properly. Hence why Stinger disappeared after accompanying Galvatron to fight the Autobots (For example) Bay also stated the movie was at a rush to be done on time - so that could explain it also as characters were disappearing and re-appearing randomly for short scenes. Definitely unfinished CGI or cut scenes of robots. This ^ In terms of actual robot fights (Robot vs robot) their was; Optimus Vs Galvatron Hound Vs Drones Stinger Vs Bumblebee Optimus Vs Lockdown Bumblebee Vs Lockdown Not sure I can call the random deaths of Vehicons at the hands of the Dinobots or Optimus as actual fights as they just mowed them down... Same goes with Lockdown killing Ratchet, it wasn't a fight it was just a murder. Their aren't many fights as most the time its just car chases or human scenes also.
Since I'll get yelled at if I start *YET ANOTHER* thread about how bad this movie was, I'll put my feelings here: I too fell cheated. If the focus is animation for this thread, I'll start there. So, the opening scene, where the "Creators" wore cyberforming prehistoric earth. The errors/glitches start there, when the explosions explode, but then kinda pause mid-explosion. This wasn't the explosion freezing and turning into metal, like the organic life was, no. It's just animation they were supposed to cut away from, but didn't. The aforementioned lack of transformation sequences for key characters was disappointing. But the in-fiction hand-waving to explain away the "new" Transformers way of changing modes was pretty dumb. "We hacked their robo-DNA, and now we can control them". except that the way they're changing looks NOTHING like any other Transformer. (although it *DOES*look an awful lot like how Kre-O Transformers change in their commercials. Coincidence?) I could accept minor changes, or even a "dumbing-down" of the transformations. Heck, simplifying the transformations would have made more sense, and would have potentially brought a few G1 nods, if handled correctly. I have much more I could rant about, but it has less to do with animation and more to do with how one of my favorite heroes has been turned into a remorseless killer, so I'll leave that for another thread.
If you notice in all TF movie Optimus somehow always got left to fight the decepticons alone. The autobots always show up late and somehow Optimus enjoy being a lone ranger - He carried Sam to chase Megatron in ROTF instead of getting him to safety with the team. Which end up by his death - They let him fight The Fallen and Megatron alone and he was lucky that he was able to defeat both of them - No one bother to come to accompany him when he chase after Sentinel on the brigde even after he got "disarmed" maybe they were too busy and let Megatron do their job instead - And yet, all of the autobots ran away from just one man made robot, Stinger instead of just transform and kill him. Leaving Optimus and Bee to ran away from Galvatron and protect the humans. And bee for some reason didn't follow Galvatron when he transform and chase after Optimus leaving Optimus to fight Galvatron alone and yet, none of them were there when Prime got shot near the spark by lockdown and captured
Plus if you look the pony and gun are inches away from his hands. Plus there's the floating cars flippers for when the stunt car flips but it raises the car tires and all about two feet off the ground
