Looking at all those 'toon vs MP vs G1 toy faces, I mostly like the MP ones the best. Except for two; Laserbeak's G1 toy head is one of my all-time favourite G1 heads, it looks so menacing with that big hooked beak, I much prefer this to the 'toon or MP versions.
Also, I really prefer G1 toy Bumblebee's head to either the cutesy 'toon or the upcoming MP one. I wish the MP faceplate alt head was more G1 toy accurate. But, the MP's are meant to match the 'toon, and so they do, which is mostly for the good.

Once again we agree. I'm collecting characters from my childhood, not cool robots. So it's easy for me to pass on repaints that don't have a character from the cartoon.

What I've not decided yet is how far I'll take this. What I really want is all characters from S1 and many from S2, but there are some that are less important to me. Unlike many I don't need combiners beyond the Constructicons, for example.

Movie bots I'll probably collect, but I may ignore other S3 characters...and I won't go all the way to the Japanese continuity simply because it doesn't hold any feelings of nostalgia for me.

I see it as a long, noble, strong jaw.  

...but man that G1 toy face was horrible. I had forgotten just how bad it was.

By the end of the year I should be up to at least 8 MP figures, I currently have an MP10B, MP13, MP12B, and an MP17. On the way I have an MP19, and in my private warehouse at HLJ I have an MP18, along with a preorder for MP21 and MP22. Thankfully with all the AoE toys being pretty much crap it's meant I've got a slightly bigger budget for MPs.

Really just can't wait to get my hands on that MP Ultra Magnus.

 

I've thought about doing the same. But, I can't bring myself to change the figures; nore am I willing to buy two more. I really hope they do a third one that's a perfect toon version, I'd definatly buy it.

I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Yeah I know what you mean. I had no plans on getting Silverstreak but when I saw him I just thought 'hey that's Bluestreak!', a feeling I didn't get from MP-18. I guess really the problem is down to the grey they used being too dark. I don't normally modify things, although I did paint MP-10 and Hasbro Soundwave's eyes, so I figure I may as well give this a go. I might go make that poll now and see what response I get before I get around to painting tomorrow.

 

Nice work. I do think MP-18 was too dark overall (especially the black) but I guess maybe they were using a real Fairlady deco or something. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out  

Oh, one other thing, I wish the MP's black hadn't gone quite so wide across the hood. Is yours gonna be toon accurate and keep between the headlights?

 

Yeah that's definitely the idea, I'd rather it be accurate to bot mode than car mode so the stripe won't go past the headlights. Check out the poll as soon as it's posted!

 

Do it to the bumper, it would look wierd other wise. Also, are you going to change (paint) the windshield/roof peice too? The alt mode wouldn't be right with out it.

Get the stripe right! I'm really looking forward to seeing it.  

I keep going back and forth on which one to use with the main group of MPs as the official representative of Bluestreak. Right now it's the silver one. Even though the first one is to dark and the stripe is way to much.... it still feels like it should be central one, but ya know silver just looks better. If they ever make a perfect toon version, I'll just use the first one in alt mode. My dream would be all three, silver/perfect toon/Blue .... all three together!

 

Yeah I'll paint the windshield and roof of the car black, but no silver outlines around the windows like on MP-18. More like this:

Yea, con't get with the hands.. They just look over sized to me. Which is unfortunate, for me, because I love the idea of articulated fingers for these guys. Wish they'd make them just SLIGHTLY smaller, and for the Lambo's as well!

 

I have the exact same gripe. They look like outfielders gloves on them. The KFC hands for Prime look good , but I'm not a fan of the company so I'm passing on them as well.

What was the retail price for the Hasbro MP Acid Storm? Was it $80?

 

I think the hands look great in person, and they add a lot of character thanks to the gestures now possible. I can see why some might find then too large, but I've always liked the big-hands-bot look.
