Using a dark blue, metallic blue, and some silver details, washes, with a gloss coat, i bring you Drift in Movie accurate colors!!!
EDIT: I realize that alot of people have a hard time seeing the blue on drift in the movie and think he's actually black, so for your viewing pleasure, i added a pic of drift in bot mode and alt mode from the film to confirm the legitimacy of my color scheme chosen.

Looks great but I really could'a sworn he was a black and blue car, and I was looking specifically for that when watching the movie.

Looks fantastic, but I don't think movie accurate is what I would use to describe it. He was black in the movie, not dark blue.

Guys, the Bugatti in real life is a dark blue car. Its the type of dark blue that looks black until you get really close in the sunlight, and only then is the blue visible.

Any other time yes it LOOKS black, but it is really a dark dark blue. This IS movie accurate.

I really love the repaints we're being shown of Drift, but I wish y'all would use something other than a gloss black background to photograph him with, makes it really hard to see what you've actually done.

Doesn't that mean that the custom should be so dark blue that it looks black unless you are up close on it in bright sunlight? Pretty sure this would be a fairly vibrant blue in sunlight considering these pics are in an extremely dark setting and background yet the car is still very obviously blue. I'm just sayin.

Nice work, thought I'd hate the character from the previews, but liked him in the film, voice a bit naff, backstory has him pegged as an ex-decepticon, freaky.

It's the light reflection that allows it to look blue. In a shadow, the blue looks black almost. this can be confirmed by screenshots from the film of the bugatti and drift's robot mode.

refer to the pic attached to this reply to see the glory that is accurate! :D
Thanks bro, i will admit it is not easy to spot the fact that he's actually blue and not black. I almost thought it was black until i saw the bugatti's reflection, and Drift's fight with the Stingers.

all i did was gloss him up, so that's why it looks pitch black on some areas. It's got nothing to do with the black background.
that is correct sir, in fact it's the reflection of light that shows the blue nature of the paint. just like the bugatti from the film. Even the helicopter is blue.
Thanks man! alot of bayhaters these days but it's nice to receive some appreciation despite your hate for Bay :D
    thank u!
i looooved drift. I was unsure of his face because of that one toy with the white eyes lol. But he looks awesome in the movie. and the deluxe face worked out well for me.

Let me know when you find that kind of paint so you can make one like that, good luck with that though since last I checked the bugatti is a 1 Million dollar+ car so I imagine the paint is very high end and possibly impossible to mimic, as others have said this custom IS movie accurate because drift is freaking blue in the movie, painting him black is just lazy and uninspired.

Mine was painted black with a thin enough layer to show some blueish in the right lighting. Some might say that IS accurate.
No reason at all to insult every customizer who went with black. The car DOES look black at almost all times, regardless of what rare or brightened pic you can find on the internet and I still say this is a bit too blue.
Maybe I will hit mine with a transparent layer of blue that won't really even show up as to not be lazy or uninspired.

Looks great man don't get me wrong but according to Buggatti, the car in the film is Black and blue, only one other Buggatti comes in blue for the body and its periwinkle blue.

Maybe you should do that, cause I saw it on Imax and Blue is the way to go.

You are looking at the OFFICIAL pictures this guy posted right? the car is blue, regardless of how dark it is on some angles, the right color is blue.

    Ebay:
The car used in the film is black and blue. Michael bay uses color filters in every scene. He uses blue and yellow filters as that's what the human eye sees attractive first. According to Buggatti, the colors for the car in the film are black and blue for the Vittesse edition. Buggatti, much like Ferrari does not allow their cars to be modded for use in movies, stingy bastards. That's why we never got a proper toy of Dino. since the vehyron has been used by Hasbro before, I'm sure they were cool with it. I still love this custom, it looks phenomenal, but the colors are not what people think they are. Watch the helicopter scene, its a black and blue chopper too. I just got back from IMax version and its just the filters he uses in all his films. Don't even get me started on "The Island"

In the film his robot mode was indeed a dark blue. Roddy has it correct.

I skimmed, added my two cents in defense of my bud. That's it. I don't have enough knowledge about the car itself and the brief time it was onscreen but I paid very close attention to his robot mode and the sucker replaced the "black" parts with dark blue.

    Thanks for the defense :)

The reason the blue is visible as blue in my pics and not black, is because i made sure to have proper lighting. But the effect is the same, the blue with the high gloss can often give off the illusion of a black coat. The pics i posted of the actual robot and bugatti are from the film, and one pic is from a car show of the generic colorscheme of that particular Bugatti that carries the light blue stripe on the lower half. I liked your version, but i did have a close look and brought references. Filtered or not on film, the screen shot of drift in robot mode shows blue :)
that is what the wiki says, but what do you see in the pictures? :D
i don't know if Bay used filtering for the blue, but what i do know is that the screen shot from the film in his robot mode that i posted shows very clearly that he's blue. It's hard to catch the reflection to see it sometimes in the movie, but it cant be helped with the gloss finish.
    Thanks bro

Both share the same colors. sometimes the bot mode looks like he has black instead, but it's just the angling of the light that gives that impression.

sucker? who are we talking about? lol.

Well its a silly thing to be arguing about but the fact is the bot, helicopter, and car all looked black and lightning blue in almost every scene and in almost every photo. For every slightly blue tinted picture or screen capture anyone can show me where the car looks blue, i can provide 3 more where it is outright black. Some of the more blue looking pics you can find, including one used as proof in Rodi's OP, look lightened.
The point is, this custom looks great, like all of Rodimeister's work, but that doesnt mean that it is the only perfectly accurate one or that anyone who didnt paint it this same color is lazy or uninspired.
I think both black or a dark enough blue looks fine, but I don't feel anyone made a mistake by painting theirs black.
