In 2012, early 2013, yes, they pretty much were. But the Wrecker's were the last wave of that. The IDW Generations deluxes have been significantly better.

So what if Deluxes have increased in price, you're paying the Canadian price we've paid for since forever.

I don't believe that the Deluxe class is "dead" at all. I'm very much looking forward to getting Windblade, Jihaxus, Nightbeat, Crosscut, and Chromia later.

Most of my Generations-Classics collection is Deluxe class. Aside from the odd QA snafu, like arms falling out of socket on Skywarp, or the hip-swap problem on Skids, I like nearly all of the deluxes that I've gotten.

Nah, they're far from "dead." However, there has been a shift since the price increase on the deluxe class towards the voyager class for the "value".

I do not think they are dead. The price point does not bother me and the Deluxes I have seen or heard of have all looked really good to me. My collection is made up of primarily Deluxes and I look forward to buying even more of them.

Actually, they are made from plastic, which is made from oil, which is made from dead animals... so TECHNICALLY they were once alive and are now dead.

The deluxes are selling quite well in my area. TRU can't keep them stocked because they sell so fast.

movie deluxes are dead.. they're just soo much smaller than the previous deluxe's, it's embarrassing. but now with walmarts price drop, the mass difference is A WHOLE LOT easier to swallow, though the size difference still poses a problem when displaying AOE figures with others from previous movie lines.

but the generations figures are still quite nice.. waspinator is great, rattrap looks awesome, armada starscream is very cool, stealth megatron is fantastic.

right now, i'd say that the leader class is dead.

AOE prime is awful.. crap hanging everywhere, no wrist articulation, a rather simple transformation, no chest flames (which just about ALL of the other primes have in almost every other size class, even the damn 1 step changer has flames on its chest).. AOE grimlock has a decent robot mode, but again, the transformation is rather simple and the dino mode is atrocious.. and i believe the mass difference is WAY more noticeable with the leaders than it is with the deluxe figures.

you could say that it's only because they're movie designs.. but we've seen leader jetfire stripped of most of its initial paint details, which really makes the figure look cheap. and the unnecessary fake chest cockpit is very troubling.. especially considering had they gone G1 all the way, they could've done the figure properly rather than trying to go with a G1 looking chest with a macross looking jet. it's a shame. and megatron.. he looks nice right now.. but he too looks sort of like a cheap brick. i also assume non photoshopped images are going to be less flattering. hopefully he doesn't lose any paint apps. i assume he'll lose the weathered look he sort of has. and the legs being a different color grey is a bit lame.

oh.. and it doesn't look like either of them will have ankle articulation, which at $45 is rather disappointing.

anyways.. i still enjoy the deluxe figures. i really hope we get more beast era figures. they've really done a great job with waspinator and rattrap.

It is for me, unless it's a smaller character that is now a deluxe (Generations Warpath or Rattrap).

I totally get what you're saying. I think you hit the nail on the head, deluxes just aren't as appealing. voyagers are the bread and butter for me (especially if you count 3rd-party stuff which more often than not is voyager-esque sized.

There are some great deluxe sized figures, but I'd rather spend a bit more and get something really great and that usually means voyager or leader-sized.

Nope. If it were to me, they could be all Deluxe size. I have bought recently 5 Voyagers, the first in my collection. And now I'm running out of space. I don't want them to be cluttered all over the room. With Deluxes it's easier.

As a whole this TF4 movie line is utterly uninspired...

I think my problem is who Hasbro chooses to be in the Deluxe and/or Voyager class.

Case demonstrating bad decision, Universe Galvatron...
