Yes, the Menasor head is missing, but let's be fair and do some basic math. The fact that it is at $12k is likely due to the fact there are 4 mint in the factory bag Stunticons and a mint in the bag Motormaster (the only one that has ever been seen with stickers) which contains: feet right and left fists right and left a Gun A sword chest plate roller missile launcher & 2 missiles (may be the only one to have those too?) Considering how AFA defines "uncirculated", each piece has great possibility of being grade as uncirculated. It is pretty obvious that there is a very high probability that there will never be one better than this. Carded Breakdowns sell for $2k (and there are 300 of them.) What are these mint uncirculated Stunticons worth? Is $1000, $2500, $2500, $2500 unreasonable? That is $8.5k alone in Stunticons. The last accessory-less nice (but not mint) Motormaster (yes, with no Menasor head) sold for nearly $7k $8500+$7000= $15500 That is probably why it is at $12k right now. Any of these prices are a blessing no doubt. The grading out condition of these is a huge factor for anyone to consider, the winner will be owning the best ones that exist.
But it's the fact the auction doesn't mention no head is included. Ppl might not read these boards and only bidding on eBay. Values change all the times on toys just cause one sold for something many years ago does not always mean it repeats. The buyer could open these and assemble it and then see there is no head and since the auction does not state that it does not matter the auction says no returns because with this being not as described eBay will side with buyer and will have to be refunded.
Bingo. And now your 'sealed and mint AFA retirement funds' just became opened, assembled and returned to you because they are not as described. If I had the spare $15k sitting around, I'd do just that for the pleasure of owning this set for a month then returning it. It's ultimately your call starwarsproto but I know what I'd do.
I agree with Mach and Deceptigtar. PayPal/Ebay will see that the auction said "complete" and side with the buyer because it's not "complete." I don't think anyone is questioning how much it's worth, even without the mask. Honestly, I think this is us watching out for you, starwarsproto. If it's not changed, it will come back to you bite you.
Starwarsprotos, I agree that mentioning "no combined head" could save you from an unlikely (but quite costly) return of goods. But in the same sentence you could mention that no "finished" G2 Menasor head (only a hand-painted proto) has ever been seen with ANY G2 Stunticons set. Also, thank you for answering questions and being such an active part of this thread. I am sure potential buyers and dreamers (like myself) equally appreciate such insite into these rare items.
I always intended to update information to the auction, which I now have. Manually coding pictures into html is a pain. I truly appreciate everyones input on the auction.
NEWSFLASH!!! Everyone can shut up now, he made the change for you. Happy? In other news, I fear the ATB Megatron listing. Here's hoping for a dead mint in box piece!!!~!
Just to clarify, the head with mine is not a hand painted prototype. It is a finished piece cast in purple plastic with machine-applied paint. Just like the finished product would have been. It's neither here nor there, but for auction description purposes there in-fact has been a finished Menasor head with a Stunticon set contrary to Deonasis' comment.
Yes. I'm glad for him that the auction information will be correct. Saves him quite the hassle later. And then there's that.
Interesting to hear what your version of "pleasure" is, I'm glad you don't have a spare 15K sitting around. Trust me everyone, I am extremely well-versed in all of eBay's regulations. I have sold on ebay since 1997; I've shipped 16,000+ packages to customers in 49 countries. I have experience pretty much every scenario possible for dealing on eBay and PayPal. The first thing that will be done at items close is to make sure that the winning bidder understands exactly what he is and is not getting. All details regarding the "no return policy" would ironed out before shipment. If things aren't agreed upon before shipment the item goes to the second high bidder or the third. There's a fair chance I will personally bring this item to the winner, so they can be satisfied upon receipt. I have updated the listing with the new info and will contact each of the bidders informing them of the Menasor head piece, and will gladly work with them and ebay to remove their bid if that affects their desire for the piece. In the 5 days left in the auction everyone will have a chance to back out of their bid if the Menasor head makes the difference. I do appreciate everyones input when it comes to Transformers information...that is why I am here.
That was what I took away from your original discussion. No, I think that is important. That fact certainly effects the value of your piece. If yours is the only one out there cast in purple plastic that is certainly a big deal. It is hard to consider any G2 Stunticons (other than Breakdown) anything but pre production... were any produced then destroyed? (I do not know.) ...Obviously I am not talking about Hasbro Standard green tags. It can be VERY difficult to tell the difference between a regular production piece and a pre-production one visually. I will give you an example. Look at this SW figure. Upon close examination this action figure looked exactly like a production piece, until i pulled out the dissecting microscope. Look at the figure and then scroll down and look at it's manufactured date.
To any prospective bidder... I was VERY careful and this opened easy with no stress to the bag whatsoever: <P>[/IMG]
Great pic! Though to avoid any confusion, that is Motormaster's head, not the missing Menasor head in question, if that was indeed the intention of the post. Either way - great pic!
No, that is Motormaster's head. The Menasor "Head" is more like a head-piece like a mask that snaps in place over Motormasters head. I had a few request to see Motormasters head, here it is.
This is pretty cool if you're into Transformer Mock-Ups. Gen 2 Gobot Highbeam on Aliens vs. Predator card backing. Mock Up Prototype Card Transformers Generation 2 High Beam Gobot | eBay (and if you search you'll see a Hasbro Standard Air Raid Cyberjet that I posted as well)
Thanks for the pic. Cool of you to do that. But be careful with that thing. One crack, he'll one stress mark, will put the kibosh on this whole thing.
For sure, was just adding some clarification. Thanks again for the pic! Some great stuff you have here, can't wait to see more.
