    Seen it, hated it.

I enjoyed the first three to varying degrees, but this movie is in my top 5 of all time worst. It may even beat out Battlefield Earth for dumbest shit ever released on screen.

That's a key point. And don't give me any bullshit about budget. I'm tired of hearing that old excuse trotted out while everyone swims in money. George Lucas made two movies with nothing but cgi and a few actors. You can't tell me they can't have robots on most of the time.

    where do I start...
some reason thought this one was going to be different than the others - nope
and the more I think about the movie the more it frustrates me

no reason for the seed or any of that
could have just discovered dinobots in the artic and said / wow transformers have been here forever
and lockdown was the best character in the movie but didn't need him
/ didn't need marky mark to be an odd inventor
he could have been a mechanic that worked/sold truck parts
humans built galvatron, fine using megatron parts /what not
galvatron should have been the one taking out the autobots / from the beginning
as the humans created transformer killer and then start developing
old traits of megatron / glitches with they're transformer killer
galvatron should not be aware that he is megatron - just a sense of it

why would he go by galvatron "I am galvatron" a name humans gave him
when he knows he is megatron with a new body

could have just kept it simple and really developed Galvatron

You know why they can't (and shouldn't)? I don't think budget has anything to do with it.

Kruger/Bay are so unaware of who these characters are (or can be) that all they bother making the transformers are adolescent, two dimensional, one-liner machines. They have 30 years of history available to them, with some really strong work done in the animated series, and comics, and yet the filmmakers can't even bothered to match up the right characters to their namesakes.

So, I'm not really sure this team could fill a movie with Transformers only and manage to write them in any way that you'd actually want to watch them for 3 hours.

It's been pretty much admitted by Kruger that the "story" is just a means to film whatever set pieces Bay imagines as being crazy enough to top his last ones.

And Bay is so uncreative that that basically means 3 hours of the drop on a roller coaster. So boring.

So you're right. The story could have been greatly simplified, and made a hell of a lot more sense, but then Bay couldn't shoot the spaceship, the Chicago battle, going to China, the magnet weapon, the dinobots, etc..., etc...

From what I have read, and what was posted on Youtube, this movie seems like an F student trying to tell the whole world he's going to improve greatly but then only aspiring to a D-. Optimus is still way out of character. Yeah, I can understand him being upset with humanity. I really can. I can see him growing distrustful of us and not really liking us. But come on? Repeating "I will kill him" or "I will tear them apart"? This is not Optimus Prime. This is Optimus Michael Bay Psycho Prime. This is a completely different character. Actually, it's a completely different being.

I am glad the stupid sexual humor and woman objectification has been toned down. Very glad for that. However, women leads still don't do much of anything other than serve as eye candy or cry for help. At least Mikaela did a little something in the first movie. Can't say that about women leads for the other three.

We still have massive shaky cam. And when the robots talk, we still can hardly see their faces (except at a distance) or make out what the hell they are doing or what is going on. This movie seems a little better than the previous three in trying to focus on the robots more. But not by much.

The plot is still mainly focused on a human love story. And there are no female Transformers. Why does Michael Bay hate female Transformers?

Thank god we had Transformers Prime at least despite its flaws. I think Michael Bay can learn a lot by sitting down and watching that show.

Looks like between more Michael Bay movies and Robots In Disguise, there is nothing in the next 3-5 years Transformers wise that I really give a crap about that's going to really interest me.

Maybe IDW will do a good Transformers/X-Files crossover comic book at least. One that was better than the last and stars Mulder and Scully instead of relegating them to background characters.

Just to add that the editting was bad and the effects could have been better. But you hit on all marks.

    That's a fair point.

The sad thing is a movie about a loner Optimus Prime disenchanted with humanity could be a really interesting fresh angle for a movie. But that would require a talented writer and director instead of Kruger and Bay.

Actually, that may be an interesting angle in a new future Transformers series as well. I think we need a series with evil humans and distrustful Autobots. Not just a few evil humans like TFP. But perhaps an evil shadow government aka the X-Files that's really pulling the strings.

It sure beats the "robots crash on Earth and befriend wacky children" thing that's been shoved down our throats forever.

    It was....ok. I didn't hate it.

Yes, there were more Transformer centered things going on, but the Transformers themselves, the Autobots who are the focus especially, all act like cartoon characters. Then there's the Autobots that we see die or are implied dead via a playing card, and its played like we're supposed to care. We never had a chance to know any of those characters. Why would we?

There wasn't anymore Transformer characterization in this than there were in the other three. So its more of the same, and I'm sick of the same.
