I'm more disturbed that your mind actually jumped to that conclusion.

Yea, because you've been dating a girl for 3 years with an over-protective father who doesn't want her to date period and you know he's bound to bring up the 'minor' thing when he finds out.

I honestly can't imagine a guy in that situation with a half-functioning brain who wouldn't have that shit printed out in case daddy caught on before she hit 18. Hell, he's probably been pushing her to tell Cade about them for a few years already.

Of all the things in AoE that people could have a problem about, you pick the one that makes probably the most sense? geez these boards are weird at times. If one were going to complain about that then they should really focus on the fact that in most states that R&J junk wouldn't matter as they are only 3 years apart and it would be considered perfectly legal anyway.

Just as an FYI, in some parts in North America, you can go to jail, especially since the age of consent varies from state to state.

I'm wondering how many of the teen boys here will one day have a daughter themselves, and will end up making their baby girl's dates shit bricks.

I can just imagine a few of you :p

Those scenes didn't bother me at all surprisingly.

I don't see what the problem is. He was less than 3 whole years older than her. It seems to me he just had his birthday earlier in the year than her

    I didn't find it creepy. There's a huge world of difference between a 20 year-old being with a 17 year-old and a 51-year old being with a 14 year-old.

I don't think the card thing's creepy either. Considering that he knows his girlfriend's dad is quite overprotective, I don't blame him for carrying something that puts the law on his side should the first meeting go wrong.

I don't blame him either, but that was the part that just cracked me up. That he was ready to show it at moments notice to anyone who questioned him. That really made me laugh for some reason

Eh. The scene didn't bother me too much but if I had a daughter I'm pretty sure my reaction would have been pretty close to Cade's. That said I thought the fact that he had the Romeo and Juliet law on a laminated card for just such an occasion... pretty funny.

People takin' this too seriously lol. This is the situation: Tessa tells someone she's 17. Shane says he's 20.

People: Woah, Shane. You could go to jail dude.
    Shane: *explains the law*
    People: What? That isn't true!
    Shane: Yes, it is.
    *continues*

Thus Shane carries the card with him for situations like that. And the way he flipped it out with a quick summary of its contents, seems like he's had to do it before.

Very unlikely unless the minors parents are rich and can grease some palms, especially if the person in question is close to the age that is the consent in the state most of the time they don't care.

They might detain you to please the parents but you would be out in no time once they realized the parents are wasting their time.

Especially if it's not an underage girl, they usually get more upset about that than the opposite.

He probably also carried it because the cops probably don't know the law either and wouldn't waste time looking it up, unless you knew the code.

Funny scene. I don't have any problems with it and I'n very surprised anyone could have any.

And overprotective father was something I can relate to, since I have a daughter too (even if she is 3 yo now :) ).

It probably could have been cut. But at the same time this was nothing compared to the many other scenes that should have been cut.

I'd love to see your version of Lord of the Rings. I bet you could whittle it down to a single book, under 50 pages.
