Anybody notice that the "Hate" campaign posters from the news montage looks like it was taken from the footage that was leaked for DoTM? It was when they were filming with all the anti-Autobot propaganda posters as well as around the same time that Skids and Mudflap were filmed rampaging in the streets.

Could it be that they took advantage of the footage, since they cut the Twins out of DoTM?

 

actually it's not because they never said they were in Beijing we know that's Beijing in real life but in the movie where they crashed was supposed to be near Hong Kong

To add to that: the actor who uttered the line is actually a (fairly well-known) Hong Kong actor, Michael Wong. Born in New York and moved to HK to persue an acting career, he actually has a reputation for speaking flawless English...but his Chinese is terrible/virtually non-existant   So he was hired for that one line!

Nothing I'm about to say should be taken too seriously because, as we all know, there are certain plot devices used to give the movie substance or direction one way or another, but...

How do you run out of ammo as a transformer?

Where are they manufacturing or procuring shells like the ones in OP's cab or even ones the caliber of Hounds cigar bullet to be able to burn thru at the rate they do in the first place? That would take a serious arms dealer/connection to keep up that type of fire power.

And if they don't need to manufacture or procure said ammunition then it would likely mean they generate their ammo(much like the freaky Nokia phone from tf2007 just came to life with a chain gun and bullets) by some other means.

Along this line then how could they run out?

 

^ I think someone on here explained that they generate the ammo, but it takes time to generate it and they may have to eat metal or get energon somehow to grow it back sort of similar to our fingernails or hair. that's what I thought I remembered from somewhere anyway.

Also, I've had a chance to watch again since the exchange you quoted, and the mini gun is actually the first gun Hound drops and discards during the final battle so perhaps he grew back an ammo belt but didn't have the gun nearby or it is just a CGI mistake of some kind

Dude, give it up already. When Joyce and his assistant arrive in China, there were clear, lingering shots of the "Bird's Nest" stadium and the "Water Cube" aquatic centre from the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. (there may even have been captions saying "Beijing" and then "Hong Kong", can't recall)

I suppose when you see a movie featuring the Eiffel Tower, to you that's not the filmmakers telling the audience it's Paris, but it could practically be anywhere in the world featuring some random French people.

 

I wondering if Hound's giant hand grenade could be counted. The moment i saw it i thought i was watching a comedy show for a second.

 

I don't know how many people caught this the first time, I mean, I didn't, but during their first encounter, Optimus tries stabbing Galvatron with his built in sword. Galvatron not only catches it, he stab himself with it anyways. His core generator ends up chewing the thing up (you see bits of it falling out of Galvatron's back) and when the separate, Optimus' sword has been turned into a stub.

Just a fun fact. I thought it was badass.

 

I get that it's actually Beijing, but since the movie never established that they were there all we can conclude is that Bay intended to use that part of real Beijing as an add on to his fictional version of Hong Kong. This is not new in movies it happens all the time and is not an error.

I caught all that in the blurry camera phone footage.

 

The posters shown in AOE were actually meant for AOE. They filled up an entire wall somewhere in downtown Chicago and even included posters of Galvatron's face saying "He's watching you."

 

I'm sort of stating the obvious and perhaps bizarre, but:


Drift’s reciting haikus comes from RID Sky-Byte’s love of poetry (although to be fair they couldn’t remove the haikus from the show so they had to dub them in)

Galvatron’s coming alive comes from the KISS PLAYERS storyline where components of Galvatron were collected, assembled and put into different cars (a bit awkward, but I would say they got the best part of that story in)

Savoy's last scene would be a DIE HARD tribute.

The dinosaurs in the opening would be a tribute to TREE OF LIFE and PROMETHEUS (with more towards Malick's film I would say).

 

Just got back from my 2nd theater show couple of small things I noticed:

Cade's truck that gets destroyed by Lockdown when they're initially hunting Prime the sticker is about to be up. In one brief scene before all that you can see that his tags expire July of 2014

The first t-shirt Lucas has on includes some foreshadowing for the audience. It's a promotional T for a surf movie and includes the words "exciting and thrilling" or something close

Drift does a really cool drop in from copter mode to greet Optimus for the first time. His actual transformation is mostly blocked by Crosshairs, but it still looks cool because you can track him in the air and then watch him come in for the landing and transform.

The numeral 5 is important to this movie; KSI is on its 5th iteration of Galvatron, Shanes dad left when he was 5, Hound says we're the dirty four and Prime makes 5, at the end when Attinger is waiting for the elevator to shoot everyone in it lingers on the number 5 longer than the others, and KSI has supposedly 50 additional drones besides Galvatron. Not sure if any of that is a nod to the Quints or what.

I still cant make heads or tails out of the playing cards besides the obvious Hide and Bee cards the rest happens too fast for me

At the end when Prime flies the Yaegers away from danger he lands down directly on one of those painted circles on the sement that's meant for a helicopter to land on

PS. Also, about the whole Beijing thing. There's one scene where they take us to Beijing to show us the Central Government responding to the Hong Kong situation, but it's hard to tell anything about the time issue. All they say is that they have fighters already en route and I couldn't tell when they actually get to the HK battle

 

Ugh this was one of the things I was most annoyed about. I wanna see them punch, kick, and shoot each other and TRANSFORM.

The part I laughed hard was when Joshua was in Beijing in the hotel, when the old Chinese ladies were in front of him and he was in a rush when he goes "How do you say get the fuck out in Chinese". Not only me, but the whole theater was laughing
