By the way, a lot of the complaints about the jet mode looking unfinished are unfair. If you compare this toy to the underside of the alt mode on that Marvel character sheet, you can see that Kronos is very accurate.

There really is a big gap between the legs in alt mode. It's a bit wider on Kronos, but that's the only place where the arms could go. The cartoon jet has the arms just disappear into thin air.

It's not Kronos' fault if the jet mode looks awkward and unfinished, because that's how the original design looked. I mean, on the robot chest, you have these two intakes... it looks like they will become the jet intakes on the alternate mode. But no... they fold out so that the "intakes" point backwards on the jet mode, with those two blocks sticking out in an incredibly un-aerodynamic way. The legs just hang off the bottom and are obviously robot parts.

To all of those that are on the fence, hear me out. Do you honestly think you will ever again get the chance to purchase an (almost) MP grade Skyfire that stands twice as tall as MP11 for $160? I personlly don't see that happening, even if it came from Takara. Sure, it may partsform a few things, but the end result in either mode is pretty damn impressive. I can think of several Has/Tak products that involve partsforming. And, it's only $160! To me, that's a steal. This is my opinion and I know there are several that will not agree with it, but thought I would put that argument in the mix for those of you who were undecided.

We'll likely see a MP-10 scale Skyfire from FT for under $200, but that'll probably be over a year away since they shifted their focus to the Dinobots.

The price, the awesome bot mode and the fact that it's the only MP scale Skyfire in the near future is why I'd get one.

if we're going by the silhouette of FT's skyfire, their version will not be as tall/large as Kronos. That likely won't be a factor for some, but for people like me who are very keen on proper animation scale in their MP's, that's mainly what sealed the deal for me with Kronos.

You're forgetting FT is an established company and have two awesome products out right now. I can assure you, it'll be the case of "Well, you released first, we get to scrutinize everything about yours, and build upon that."

I can assure you either FT's Skyfire will be JUST AS GOOD, if not infinitely times better .. I mean no disrespect of course. That's the case of first releasers -- gives another company the chance to 1-up you.

Or Better argument... If you are on the fence, get it, look at it, transform it, see how you like it, and if it sucks, sell it on ebay and get your coin back. You'll be fine. If you do like it, then you got it now, rather than trying to snag one in 6 months at a convention or ebay at $200. Or wait til 4th qtr 2015 or more likely 1st qtr 2016 for FT's version (sever is due 2014, but odds are it'll be feb. 2015... Sludge in June '15, grimlock in sept '15)...

Depends on the type of collector you are... If you just change poses occasionally, otherwise it sits in a detolf for years, kronos should be fine. If you are the type who sits at his desk, flying skyfire around with Robot Heroes on his wings, you are better off waiting for sky guardian, Leader Jetfire, or FT skyfire.

I don't think the FT one will be less than $200, considering Skyfire is WAY bigger than Scoria. But I do expect it to improve the transformation mechanism... if the backpack is hollow, you can TF it exactly like the cartoon with the 'pecs' rotating sideways so the arms are where his back would be, then the backpack can just cover them. You could even conceal the jet nosecone inside the hollow backpack in bot mode; its pretty clear from the design pics that his chest cockpit ends up UNDERNEATH the jet body (a secondary cockpit?) like Hasbros leader class version so that's not even cheating.

That said, for $160 you can't beat what we're getting. It DOES remind me of the early Yamato Valkyries which were imperfect but are still high end collectables. Since I display most toys in robot mode, it more than fills my needs :)

The only thing dalianjj has definitely said FT will improve upon is landing gear... Other than that, the good folks at FT have not being forthcoming about their skyfire, because they are too busy working on awesome Dinobots.

No, I'm not forgetting that. I'm quite familiar with 3rd party...I was one of the first adopters of City Commander.

The point I'm making is that going by the FT silhouette Kronos is a taller figure than FT's Skyfire, which is only a few heads taller than MP10. That's not the case in the majority of cartoon depictions. So for those who are keen on a proper animation scale Skyfire, Kronos is closer to the true scale, again, going by the silhouette.

It's not unlike FT dinobots and Gigapower dinobots in terms of the size differential, at this point.

that's exactly my point. The only thing we have of FT's skyfire is the silhouette they posted along with Scoria and MP10. I think it's since been removed.

Obviously the silhouette won't be an indicator of the final product and may not indicate his final size. But that is all that is on hand right now to evaluate FTs, from a visual perspective, vis a vis Kronos. And at this point, the only standout discernible is size, which may or may not change in the future.

Again, it's all in the future, and several unknowns/variables, and right now there's Kronos, which is the size I need an MP skyfire to be.

    It could be...

But you're also going to be waiting quite awhile for that as the dinos are top priority. It's another reason I'm getting kronos right now. It's 160 bucks for a massive figure, which is very close to G1 skyfire. It looks solid/great in both modes. It will look great in my collection. If and when FT skyfire comes around, I can decide what I'd like to do depending on how much I end up liking Kronos, and FT's offerings.

wow he can really hold a pose! as far as i'm concerned that bot mode is pretty awesome and the fact that he can hold those poses is a great sign.

I agree. If FT releases Skyfire in the same size and weight as Kronos and improves on the design, it could be around $300 easily. I have Scoria, love it, but the price is a little high compared to Kronos. I do realize Scoria probably has twice the part count and half the diecast, but I just can't help think that it was probably cheaper to produce than Kronos. By how much, I don't know.

Man, watching this video really got me excited to get this dude! I can't believe all the complaints, how much better are we gonna get. That thing looks spot on. Being a G1 guy, parts forming has never been an issue for me. But this, in all modes looks like it flew out of the damn TV or Marvel comics. I always remembered the weird shape and size of the plane. They landed this one and I’m gonna own it.

Hahaha, too funny! Has anyone tried posing Kronos shaking hands with MP Starscream?

As far as FT Skyfire goes, I have no doubt he'll be awesome but it'll take anywhere from 1-2 years (probably closer to 2+) from now before he gets into our hands. Plenty of time for us to enjoy Kronos in the meanwhile.

I wonder how Kronos will look next to SDCC GI Joe Jetfire. :D  Peaugh, if you have both, would you mind posting a picture of the two together? Just curious as to a Kronos as bot mode and the SDCC Jetfire as alt mode set up for display.
