Uh.... It was enjoyable and you had no regrets... but you hated it?

  Oh movie forum. You are the best entertainment there is.

Yeah. From a movie standpoint I hated it. If I didn't get to see it for free both times I wouldn't have seen it. It's an enjoyable schlock piece of film, but it's a piece of shit that I'm not gotta sit here and say I liked from the standpoint of it being a good film. I hated it as a film, I enjoyed it as a Bayformers movie. Not hard to figure out.

So if you saw it for free, how does you not acting childish to get your money back even apply to you?

Because the whole idea is fucking obnoxious. We all saw ROTF in theaters and I bet the majority of us were simply like "Boy I made a mistake seeing this in theaters oh well." Being an asshole to get your money back because you made a bad decision is just awful.

And the "you" wasn't directed at you, so I don't mean offense. I just find the whole idea of not accepting your mistake as asinine.

Ah, gotcha. You were speaking generally, not specifically. My apologies.

Why not just lie after every movie, say you didn't like it, and get your money back?

Well. I didn't even finish watching those movies so it wasn't difficult. Zero Dark Thirty and Godzilla are the of the decade.

It was a satirical jab at the whole concept of getting your money back after a movie.

And take everything you buy back after you're done with it, too!

I don't know if it's sad, sick or twisted, but I get more entertainment out of watching people fight over the films than watching films.

Too bad we had to wait until after the movie to get the next cartoon series. That's where I'm Transformers excited because I've got no idea about what we might be getting with the next cartoon. The movies I just expect the same thing every time until the live action franchise burns out.

Ok. You like it for what it is, but hate it for what it COULD be.

I understand that. Honestly if I didn't feel a certain part of the enjoyment of Transformers is using the easily entertained child's viewpoint, and that it going Transformers Prime grimdark robs it of a certain... magic.

I'm thinking of TF films by someone like Robert Zemeckis or maybe Brad Bird. I simply like AOE because it's Bay giving up on trying to make a deep serious, realistic take, and just banging out the stereotypes Transformers has ALWAYS had.

In that sense I guess I feel the same as you, although the chance to watch Optimus on a 50ft screen in IMax and the graphics make up, to me, for the lack of more polish on the story. I can't really think of any animated stories of the Transformers that really don't heavily rely on the action to move the plot forward. The idea that the drama element should proceed the action and set it up works with stuff like the Avengers because of the infiltration element , where characters can interact with redshirts and build their character. As seen with the KSI scene, when TFs infiltrate, there's little to no sneaking, it's all brash. Unless we're giving the Cons a serious advantage (heavy warships where generals stay, earth bound forts they control) all TF fights are big bold set pieces, and have to be because of character scale. Even with those things in place, then how do you include the humans without bringing back the military? In my opinion, 2 hours of TF with one or two well done set piece fights would be boring. There need to be chases , fights, things that take advantage of their alts.

We'll have to wait and see, but I think the more dramatic take on TF a lot of people want would bore the core audience (5-12 year olds) and infuriate critics evenmore, the idea of the "junkpiles" so many of them describe the transformers as thinking they are characters! How dare they!

A better balance of action and story telling would be AMAZING, but from what I see out there, another director would focus more on story and less on action. Personally, given the chance to see Prime transform and kick tons of ass and be in battles is more in line with the brand than him waxing poetic and having ideological squabbles with Megatron.

Half the Transformers stories in my world came from playing with the toys as a child, and I never had much reason other than Autobots versus Decepticons. Honestly, those battles were better than anything Transformers can ever put out, and they were entirely driven by action and my childish imagination.

I don't get why people can't use a bit more imagination to enjoy this movie more.

Honestly I would have liked the movies to switch directors, and writing teams, just to freshen it up. I'll also admit I'm dissapointed by the lack of Dinobot time. Not surprised, I kinda figured it would happen. But for me at least the possiblility of Dinobots knocked wanting to see this movie way up. We've had 3 movies of Cars that turn into giant robots, and action scenes involving such. I was more exited for even more giant robots turning into robot Dinosaurs. I might not be going to see this without free tickets.

That said I also made sure to wait and see what other people said, and was never going to see it opening weekend.

Ok .... TF in all it's versions have been nothing but cars/planes/dinos and even animals turning into giant robots. Always has been. This version is set on Earth, and has quite the backstory given the first three films which AoE builds on. What were you expecting? Honestly I want to know, is Galvatron not purple enough? Does it look too real? Are the LEGO Sandman transformations a bit far fetched? Is the fact that there was a plot which was more ambitious than the tried and tested half hour shows we've been watching for years too much to accept? Are there not enough Thundercats in it?! Come on, it's a great action flick with our favourite non-mass shifting alien beings.

It's ok to enjoy a film and still have a few complaints about it people, it's not love it or hate it.

Seriously GTFO, so you want to see it but don't want to pay? Way to fight the Hollywood machine dude ;)  That comment sort of invalidates every gripe you have about the film making you not want to go see it. You hate it because of *insert generic anti movie/Bayhater comment* boo hoo, but you'll still go and see it .... for free ...:lolol  Get over yourself man. Buy a ticket, wait till it comes out on Blu Ray, or don't bother at all.

And I thought Star Wars forums were rough.

I know Awesomus, it's the idea of that we either hate it or love it. There some pretty cringe-worthy moments in the previous films but I still thoroughly enjoyed them.

And by this point people should at the very least know what to expect from Bay's Transformers. But I was well impressed with AoE given it's predecessors. Bring on TF5.

Some people take movies too seriously. Sure, AOE isn't an Oscar contender, but it's a very entertaining movie. Yeezus Rice!
