Or that I'm "lowest common denominator, have no taste, senile, uneducated" and various other things I have seen written.

I respect their opinion even if it doesn't go along with mine. But when I start reading things like that I tend to not react well to them.

 

I'm seeing it one day this week and I can't wait! I never pay any attention to what critics say......they give the best reviews to the films that would make me snore. I've loved all the TF films thus far, and I'm sure I'll love this one as well.

 

Shows that critics are not audiences.

Bay films almost as a matter of rule get canned by review sites and still make a killing in the box office. Also, you forget that 3.8/3.9 is out of 5. That's a solid average score in anyone's book.

 

The audience rating continues to drop.

I'd have to disagree with it being on the bottom... RotF easily takes that status.

 

It got an A- from Cinemascore, so there's that.

 

So what?

 

People are always making some sort of judgement on your intelligence based on entertainment and it's not just movies.

If someone is a Justin Bieber fan then it's assumed they aren't the sharpest knife in the draw. If someone listens to NPR all the time then people think that person is Mr. Smartypants. People who watched Jersey Shore were considered slightly above cave men, while Breaking Bad makes you look too snobbish when it comes to TV.

Of course ultimately you can't really judge a person's intelligence by just one bit of entertainment they indulge in. Watching the worst of Hollywood doesn't mean that you can't also watch the best of Hollywood. It's not like a theater has ever said I'm sorry but you purchased a ticket during the summer action season so you can't purchase a ticket in the Oscar bait season. People aren't restricted to just one musical artist or one musical style. You can be reading comic books one day and classical literature the next.

If you consider yourself to be an intelligent person then just shrug it off. I watch all sorts of things that are considered to low brow and in poor taste but I don't feel insulted when women who say men who watch the Three Stooges shorts are morons.

Sometimes I think people would be happier if they could learn to be like us old B movie fans. I watch things that are flawed, I watch things that aren't intellectually stimulating, I watch things that aren't in the best taste, and I'm perfectly okay with that.
