I want to hear about your thoughts about him in G1 versus these live action films. Personally I thought they made him seem weak in ROTF and DOTM which doesn't reflect the courage and great honor and leadership he has in the G1 cartoons. He often seemed dependant to me and not a real leader, making his combacks in the end which I felt was Erin's fault. I must give him a hand in AOE though, he made optimus prime who he really should be, the man (or intergallactic warrior hehe) in the cartoons we all looked up to.
I like "Prime with real emotions" Rather than "stagnant 'do no wrong'" Prime. I'm not even a movie fanboy either!
I'm liking Movie Optimus Prime more and more. I liked that Peter Cullen is allowed to emote here than be the bland stoic narrator guy he is in Prime and Rescue Bots.
tbh, i dont even bother watching prime too much and i dont watch rescue bots at all. I agree, DOTM is where he showed true emotion and clearly a lot more in AOE. I feel like he emoted in G1, but idk if you've watched that series.
I liked Prime's personal dilemma in AOE- that he had lost faith in humanity. He had a few lines, where he was so sick of Earth of was eager to finish the mission and get the hell out of there. It was a new angle for this character and I really liked it.
This. I love that here we have an actual human optimus who goes through a variety of emotions. Much better than a 2 dimensional paragon. While I've been inspired by optimus many times, AOE was one of the very few times I truly sympathized with him.
i did as well..personally i've enjoyed prime's dark arc in the live action films. both primes and megatron for that matter are kinda dicks in the live action films
100% agree with you, i hope to see more of the new optimus in future films, especially since it may involve the quintessons.
Agree completely. I could actually hear his pain and it was very offsetting to see optimus "shining knight" prime just completely breakdown like that. I loved seeing the way he changes over the movie and actually can't wait for number five even though I entered the movie thinking the fourth would just be gratuitous.
