The 3DS version is the one I'm more interested in. I like strategy RPGs and I like quite a bit of what the developer Wayforward has done in the past. Anyone playing it and have any thoughts?

I picked up the both the Wii U (which is the same as all the others) and 3DS versions and I have to say, the 3DS is easily the better version in my eyes. As a fan of RPGs, especially Strategy RPGs such as Fire Emblem, I am pleasently suprised how much I enjoy this game. I think Wayforward did a great job with it. I think you will enjoy it especially if you have enjoyed Wayforward's offerings in the past.
Hope this helps a little :)

This is actually the version I'm looking forward to more. I can't wait to play it in line for the movie.

They did Alien Infestation. That's a huge plus for me. Might have to pick this up today. So does it play pretty open, or is it linear (one battle follows the other). Any customization?

I got it. And left the e-cash flyer thing behind on accident. What where the details for that anyways?

Ahem back on game topic, haven't played much. Still seems fairly good, especially since I doubt this was a A-list game in development. Tactical RPGs are a good fit for Transformers. It's not a high production values as a SRW would be, but it should be fun. Sadly the A button on my 3DS doesn't work great anymore, so I'm busting my thumb doing anything. Too bad for me there was no button config option.

Aliens Infestation was a huge plus for me as well :D

Might need to start looking at games I'd like to trade in...

I'm on Mission 8 of this and I'm pretty happy with it. My thoughts...

-I legit love the way transformation is used in this game. If you transform, your character can move 2 additional spaces, but their turn automatically ends. I wish other SRPGs had a mechanic like it to help speed up those early turns before combat has started.

-Unlike Fire Emblem you don't just watch your characters fight. Because of the "timing ring" for attacks, each fight does at least require some of your attention. I like that about it.

-Ramjet is pretty much broken as a support unit. I'm guessing you don't get many chances to use him, though.

-They've retained the voice cast from WfC/FoC including Fred Tatasciore as Megatron and Yuri Lowenthal as Starscream. Definitely not my favorites. :/

-IMO if you're going for all the secondary objectives (which of course I am) the difficulty can be a bit uneven. The secondaries in the early Mercenary levels are the hardest I've come across so far since most of your team consists of flimsy mooks.

Wayforward is a very smart developer and I have a lot of respect for the way they don't half-ass their licensed games.

Correction: Starscream is voiced by Sam Riegel.

    Gameplay from SooMungry seems promising.

Presumibly just during the FOC Decepticon missions. Like how they have the guys who aren't in the game a support characters. I noticed Steeljaw and Ramhorn's silloutes for the FOC Autobots.

Poor Lockdown, since so many movie cons are dead, he's stuck with mooks.

Edit: Just unlocked Steeljaw, and he's the same as Ramjet.

Can someone post a full character list please?

I figure it has to have more movie characters than the console game (hopefully Hound and Crosshairs join in on the fun)

Seeing as how the other offerings look horrible, this is the only real option as far as I'm concerned. Not that there is anything wrong with that, the DS game was easily the best option for the 2007 movie and Wayforward made my favorite handheld game of all time (Contra 4, get it) I certainly have no complaints.

Not going to touch it until after I see the movie though.

Actually I wouldn't call the other offerings horrible. Just got done playing it for 2 hours and I was enjoying it more than I thought I would. Ill probably pick this up tomorrow. The video walk through convinced me.

Well I've gotten quite a way in, and I think I have bad news. I've got everyone unlocked on the bio screen but one, and I think that's stinger, since I just fought him. So what's the Bad News? No Grimlock. Niether of them. Wish they'd taken MovieLock off the boxart.

I'm also seeing more helecoptor kibble on Drift than car kibble. The swords on his back are clearly those of a Helecoptor, and you can see the tail rotor on his knees.

All in all, I'll give this a 75 out of a hundred. It's kinda basic, but I suspect Wayforward didn't get a huge amount of time or money to work on it. I'm taking five points off for the lack of Dinobots. But I hope the 3DS version does well and we get a much deeper sequel.

Edit: Well I've beaten the game now. I was Wrong, Movie Grimlock does show up, for two stages. You have to protect him while he destroys gates. He's pretty tough, and if enemies are in a line to his side, he's toast them with fire breath, and if they get near him, he'll do a ground pound.

    As for the ending...
Who wants the sequel to involve the G1 cast now?

Okay bumping this because of something VERY important. Before you hit new game +, copy your save file. Because once you start new game + you will be locked onto hard, and will not be able to revist stages until you play through them again.

    Also here's the cast list.
    Earth Autobots-
    Optimus Prime
    Bumblebee
    Crosshairs
    Drift
    Ratchet

    Earth Mercenaries
    Lockdown
    Stinger

    Cybertron Autobots
    Optimus Prime
    Arcee
    Bumblebee
    Cliffjumper
    Hound
    Jazz
    Jetfire

    Cybertron Decepticons
    Megatron
    Kickback
    Sharpshot
    Shockwave
    Slipstream
    Soundwave
    Starscream
    Swindle
Anyone notice how many Cons have names starting with S?

FOC Bruticus and AOE Grimlock show up as NPC's in a few stages.

Thanks for the heads up, and character list Negativedark. :)

Nice to hear that Stinger is in the game, unfortunate that Hound isn't, though. I've played the game quite a bit and I really enjoy it.

It's a solid strategy game, to be honest. I just wish I knew what Intelligence did as a stat. The plot is a sort-of abridged version of the PC game though.

EDIT: After seeing the movie it's clear the game is an AU. Ratchet appears during the Earth sections midway through the game and sticks around for later. Rise of the Dark Spark feels like an AU where AoE didn't happen and this game is replacing those events.

Don't know why mission five would be much trouble, but here's some tips. use Shockwave to hack the Energon Mine. Keep Soundwave back a bit, so he can repair the other two. Since you have no way of repairing him, be careful with him. Whenever you can hit groups with Starscreams Ranged attack. If you've got the choice between Screamers Ranged attack, or face to face, use the ranged. You might not do as much damage, but it softens them up, so you don't need as many strong attacks in face to face. Since you've hacked the Energon Mine, don't be afraid to use the super abilities. All three have very useful supers.
