I feel like 50% of the reason these films get reviewed so bad are because of the length. All of the transformers films have pushed the two hour and twenty minute mark. But this one just decides it has to be two hours and forty five minutes long. I think I have to agree with something I read on the internet: Bay wants to keep all the scenes he likes, he doesn't believe in director's cuts. Sometimes when im bored, I like to watch movies with the commentary on. Most commentaries mention that there were many scenes they had to cut out to keep the movie pacing on track. I feel like Bay doesn't do that. I mean two hours and forty-five minutes? come on. I thought 127 minutes was too short, but 165 is too long. 140 is just about perfect.

I agree, there really needs to be more hard editing to the film. The film is REALLY long, far too long then the plot dictates and there are a lot of scenes that really go absolutely nowhere and don't even have significant character moments.

Agreed. Plenty of little things that could be cut. honestly if they cut out even 5 minutes worth of crap it would make the difference.

It was VERY bloated. Easily could've pulled out 30 minutes.

I'm trying to remember if there was a reason the scene with Stanley Tucci on the elevator lasted so long.

 

The biggest editing goof I remember was the ship chase scene. Cade: "We got three on our tail". Bumblebee takes out one with an anchored ship. Next shot: THREE ships still chasing Crosshairs and Bee.

 

And Tessa fell out of the car twice when they were being sucked up.

 

I didn't think that was an editing goof I thought there were just more than three ships either cade didn't see initially or was just talking about the ships immediately behind them but when one went down another attacked. it seemed like they took down more than three anyway.

I actually prefer longer movies. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd keep it as is.

 

Same. Honestly unless you in the theatre timing the movie I doubt you even noticed how long any individual scene was. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a longer movie.

 

This movie has the same exact runtime as Dark Knight Rises and I don't really remember people shitting their pants about that.

 

Honestly, the film didn't even feel that long. It went by so fast that when I checked my phone for the time, I was shocked to see it was 11:56. It flew.

If the film was shorter, though, I feel critics wouldn't be bashing it so hard.

 

OK, Bay. Take note for TF5.

-Fix the pacing and the editing of the movie.
-Shorter time please also.
