Also when Mark Whalberg is watching the KSI scientists stripping apart Ratchet's head, one of the female workers says something like "it's good we are getting parts from those evil Decepticons" (or something along those lines) and Marky Mark is all "...that's an Autobot" in disgust.

 

Saw the film last night during the NYC red carpet premiere and it is leagues better than the previous movies, bar-none.

The human element was handled much better. Wahlberg's character makes for a better main character than Sam was, as he and Optimus share a goal in protecting what's important to them. Tessa, his daughter, and her boyfriend Shane were also pretty good. I'm glad their romance was only a side thing and not much of a focal point.

Optimus Prime is still a ruthless, take-no-prisoners type of leader that the movies have made him into, but here they make it WORK. The way he's acting, the way he's threatening others fits who he is right now. His trust in humanity has been broken and he's desperate to protect the remaining Autobots on Earth and will do anything he has to to keep them safe, even if it means fighting humans. It fits Optimus a lot better this time around.

All the new Autobots were great. Hound was probably the best of the three. John Goodman did a damn good job with his voice work and the character himself had so many great moments, especially in Hong Kong where he's making a last stand. Crosshairs feels like the new Ironhide, his relationship with Hound made for good comedy with their quips back and forth. Drift got the least characterization, but you could still get from his portrayal that he is an honorable warrior who has immense respect for Optimus, having a hard time seeing anyone else as a leader to him.

The villains were very well-done and whoever was under-utilized was used mainly as future set-up. Kelsey Grammer's character made a great human villain, Lockdown made a FANTASTIC cybertronian villian and Galvatron was a great introduction of things to come.

The most surprising thing though? Not a single new Autobot kicks the bucket. Not even the Dinobots. I was shocked in the best way possible. The only expendable robots were the Vehicons, including Stinger.

 

Speaking of Vehicons do they come in different colours?

Like the ones in the trailers are silver and red, but are there any other colours from them or are they just generics like that?

 

I love it when optimus said we're giving you freedom to grimlock

 

They're all different styles of cars and colors. There's even one that looks like he was reverse engineered from Shockwave, having two heads that look like his and back turbines. Junkheap was also a Vehicon.

 

Black, blue, silver and mostly red.

 

I was dreaming last night I was being hunted by Lockdown.

Aw man, I wish I could watch those Dinobot scenes again.

For how simple the Dinobot's head designs were on the toys, I didn't expect them to actually be accurate. When Scorn showed up on screen I was amazed to see he still had the boxy knight head.

I'll be seeing the cheapest matinee I can tomorrow, along with an ex-girlfriend of mine. We've remained on good terms, and Grimlock was kind of a "thing" of ours during our relationship, so we've planned on seeing this one.

I'm really hoping the action at least warrants the $5 ticket price. Because it's not sounding like anything else about it does.

 

Well Optimus is close to 30-40 feet so I would assume Grimlock would stand about 90-95 tall feet in Robot form

 

I'm going to go see it again next week or so.

 

i seriously hope this one actually stays on netflix instead of being there for two months and then disappearing like DOTM.

 

Just saw it and loved it that's all I will say about it.

 

That movie is easily my favorite now. Even more than the first three.

Galvatron was handled just like I had hoped he would be. He IS Megatron reborn. Even when the humans were attempting to make him into a Nemesis Prime type bot, Megatron's downloaded memory kept his image. And when he finally awakened from the human control, it gave me goosebumps!

Cade and the rest made such better human protagonists than Sam and company from the first three films.


I absolutely loved the characters. The interactions between all five Autobots were fantastic. I REALLY love this new side of Optimus. Peter Cullen really knocked it out of the park on this one. And Bumblebee finally can talk without a radio! (though he still does so in vehicle mode.) And that easily made me like his character again.

I also loved the Dinobots. They really didn't talk, but that didn't make me like them any less.

Also, at the end, when Optimus says he's coming for his creators, could he possibly mean.. the Quintessons?

 

Best movie by far! Bring on the sequel!
