Name a piece of Transformers fiction that is deep or thought provoking? It is a franchise designed to sell toys.

If Bay does decide to do another, they need a whole new screenwriting team it seems like. To be honest, most of the reviews slam the script way more than the direction.

While I would like for the films to be better, this is the unfortunate truth.

People ask why these films can't be as good as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or the Nolan Batman films which are all still technically just supposed to be fun movies. At the heart of the matter is this: while that stuff was made to make money, it was also originally conceived with good storytelling in mind. Lucas wanted to make a new myth with Star Wars, Lucas/Spielberg wanted to bring a new serial to the big screen with Indiana Jones, and Batman of course was based on a comic book that has storytelling at its very heart.

Transformers...well Transformers is based on a toy that was meant to do nothing other than sell.

Don't get me wrong, I think these films could be good movies and expect no less. But by the same token I kinda see why they're not and won't be. Hasbro has and always will put money first. The only way it will change is if it stops making money. And even then, there's no guarantee that Hasbro will try to do better. They might just give up on it, like they have in the past.

Last Stand of the Wreckers (honestly probably a lot of IDW stuff). Animated managed it off and on, especially in Season 3.

Could just be a good indication that the reviewers are out of touch - after all, the user rating is still above 80%. Be interesting to see how big the difference is between critics and users once more people have seen the movie.

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...seeing-tf4-before-anyone-else-thread-200.html

I've read every single post, and it sounds awesome to me. My opinion. It has everything I want, although it does sound a bit too long, I could live with it. If I can handle the extended LOTR and The Hobbit films I can make it through this.

I don't really care what the "haters" say, I can't wait for this film and to own it on DVD so I can place it next to my other "bayformers" films and the G1 series.

    Good day.

Yeah, we must be seeing different things in that thread, because I can see fun, but I can't make an argument for good.

Maybe this will finally be an indicator that Paramount and Hasbro should take a break from making more Transformers movies. Or do the same thing that Toho does with the Godzilla movies and keep on making them regardless on how dumb it is..

You guys realize the irony of all this, right?

Come Monday when it makes a huge amount of money, the filmmakers will give the standard, "Well, this proves that the critics just can't have fun. We know what the audiences want, and it looks like they want to see lots of giant robots, rather than some boring snoozefest."

Dude this shit is going to explode in Chine and probably be the highest grossing TF movie of all time.

And then Paramount will throw a gajillion dollars at Bay to make Transformers 5 - 25.

    Listen to this professional genius:

"and somehow, after seven years and more than 10 hours of screen time, I could not tell you what these films are about." Then he goes on to say "really, no one is a bigger supporter of gigantic robots than myself."

Can't really have it both ways.

And of course the public will constantly blame the Transformers fanbase for being the main reason why the Transformers movie franchise is still going

Why would they do that when the film is basically guaranteed to make a billion dollars? It makes much more sense to take a break after the sixth one.

    Autobot characterization-good
A strong human lead - good
A fairly strong story - good
    Autobots show emotion - good
    Less sexual jokes - good
    Dinobots - good
    A strong villain - good
    Great action - good
    Music - good
    Visuals - good
    Better humour - good
Optimus Prime recognises a team member dies - good
Running time- not so good (but I'll get use to it)

This is what I think is good about this film! They definitely upped their game. You disagree? Cool, that's your opinion, and I understand that non-bayformer fans won't like it as much!

But I honestly don't care because it's not my problem.
