    The Normal Heart - 8/10

Pretty powerful performances by an amazing cast. The story was tragic and painful to watch at times.

    The Lego Movie.

    I enjoyed it very much.

9/10 Only reason I didn't mark it 10 as it was more whimsical than actually funny... still damn cool though. Batman is great !! And Superman lives up to his rep as a d**k They even mock Green Lantern too.

Charming and whimsical - cool battle at the end too The Duplo bit made me laugh.

Lots of morals in it too... Not sure I agree with all of them - but they are mostly well meaning ones.

    Lego movie: 5/10.

That was the ultimate example of an overhyped film skewing expectations. Though even if I didn't expect anything, I would've only found it okay. Up until Batman showed up it was just so God damn boring. Not a single joke got a laugh. It was all very energetic in that almost hyperactive way that only little kids find amusing. It's not even like it felt too kiddy, it was just unfunny. It did get better, but it REALLY dragged. The characters are a mixed bag. Emmet and Wyld Style were just bland typical movie protagonists, and Unikitty was not even close to amusing at all. Batman was funny, Bad Cop was kind of funny (his chair-throwing joke was just so stupid. He starts off throwing chairs like crazy everywhere instead of, like, building up to it as a proper running joke) Metalbeard was cool, but not super hilarious. Lord Business was, sadly, not that funny either. Just not a lot of jokes. Kind of a waste of such a funny actor.

But the second half? Pretty good. Especially the stuff with the real life. The real world was the best part of the movie, and the message was solid, and the end was funny. It's just a shame the movie at large wasn't that strong. I mean, holy crap did the first half dragged. I felt embarrassed, like I was watching a movie for... I dunno, an age group way below what I expected. The plot was paper-thin. Some may excuse that by saying it was all made up by a kid, but it still meant it was weak. It was utterly safe and predictable begining to end.

All in all, it's clear the movie's overhyped. It's funny, but not all the time. For a movie mostly made of jokes, I'd say easily 60% fall completely flat. But the end was really good. Deffinitely not the laugh-a-minute flick the internet has made it out to be. (on that note, it's amazing how "Everything is Awesome" has caught on despite essentially symbolizing corperate control and the masses absorbing whatever they're presented. THAT's funny)

The Lego Movie 9/10: Got this on digital for my daughter, and it still holds up as well as it did in the theater. I loved the jokes. But, to each their own.

The real world scenes is what makes the movie though. It is what brings it onto a higher level of thinking.

Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone: 9/10. The Rebuild, thus far, has turned out to be a wonderful condensing of the anime series.

Then you missed the entire point of the movie, because this movie felt like less of a toy commercial than Bayformers and it was only about toys.

No Country For Old Men: 10/10

Still the best Best Picture winner of the 2000s so far.

I will never understand the love for No Country.

And how is that different from Transformers?

    Age of Extinction: 7/10.

I enjoyed it a fair bit. I think it's the best one, mainly because of it finally actually having robot characterization and also actually getting good actors to play the roles of- Wait nevermind, Nicola Peltz was terrible, but everyone else was really good.

    Punisher: War Zone

5/10. Been a while since I've seen it. Its more comic book based than the 1st Punisher so eh. I will say however, that the last scene with the Punisher clearing the hotel, that is some pretty dam accurate Close Quarters Battle CQB techniques they used.

    Transformers: Age of Extinction 7.5/10

Good movie for Transformers fans, not so great for Bay-haters. But for me, the time of sitting for two hours and forty-five minutes was definitely worth it. Loved the Autobots' personalities, the witty one-liners, Optimus Prime's character arc, and damn Lockdown was a great villian!

Main weakness is the human plot point. It felt a little flat.... Hard to say why, but with some of them I couldn't connect with except for Cade Yeager. Marky Mark did an excellent job of acting.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - 8/10

Wanted to get ready before seeing Age of Extinction on Thursday. I think this may be the first time I watched it since it was first released on Blu-Ray. I still think the franchise can do much better, but I can't help but enjoy it for what it is.

Incredible suspense, flawed and believable characters, and a cool villain. Best gunfight I've seen in a movie. And one of them didn't even use a gun.

Agreed. Lego movie is the most unoriginal a movie can get, peppered with pretty visuals and an unending stream of jokes.

See, I never found any suspense in the movie at all as it had no music to build suspense.

I didn't think the characters were all that cool because they died off screen, so I just didn't care that they died.

I also thought Tommy Lee Jones was entirely pointless as he did absolutely nothing.

    The villain was okay.

All I really remember about it was looking at the run time trying to figure out how much longer it had to go before it was over and then it should have ended with the car crash, but instead went off to have some pointless banter with Jones again.

    1. Who is the villain?
    2. Does it at least have a different plot from the last three movies? Or is the world on the brink of destruction once again?
    3. Do the Transformers actually have character development and actually care for one another? Like in Dark Ironhide dies so Prime just says, "His sacrifice will not be in vain" and then IH is never mentioned again.
