I just cant see this as having a combining gimmick, why would they not have mentioned it? I doubt it got the reaction they were going for In which case it would have been the perfect time to bring it up. Even if the combing mode or pieces were not ready they could have just shown a teaser pic like with superion.

Well, yes and no. That is since this time yesterday there have been plenty of comments mentioning Motormaster of course but Ultra Magnus has been mentioned several times. Both are known for carrying trailers that are integral to their most well known appearances in both modes, so a trailer upgrade as it were could just as well apply to Motormaster as Ultra Magnus.

If this is anything like the case where Sandstorm was supposedly designed first but released after Springer, which initially had the fandom thinking it was an unprecedented increase in retooled/added parts, then there could be lots more to the basic truck (and therefore robot) mode than we can yet see, let alone a third mode. Still, if this means the truck cab gains a little box on the back, a number of Ultra Magnus or Motormaster fans probably won't be too impressed. It's a waiting game that may well last 'til NY Toy Fair next year if I had to guess; this Optimus Prime really is something of a diversion.

I'm glad to see that a few fans other than myself have been asking for a digibash of Thunderclash, but unfortunately all the digibashers seem to have moved on (or vehemently fixated on Motormaster / making OP look more/less like a gorilla :D ). The shoulders work better for him, and while the chest (never mind the head) could use a retool, the colours of Thunderclash's crest would fit well enough over the main window breastplate panels in a digibash.

The other name that's only been mentioned once or twice is Hot Spot. Seeing as this is the other well known core combiner with a truck mode, it should have been more obvious, particularly if the retool 'just' adds a kind of box behind the cabin; hey presto, a fire truck - almost! One would wonder if a ladder/spray arm or even just light bars could be added to this design without interfering with one of supposedly two transformations.

Still, if we look at the guns here, some kind of water cannon could be right under our noses, or not; weapons and heads are of course the most common retools. And the butt of the larger gun at least seems to resemble Optimus Prime's classic weapon. The smaller gun has a manifold design on it, which could imply a (firefighting) pump or more likely resembling an engine to most, which would naturally suit a Stunticon aesthetic.

Unfortunately, I'm not skilled in any way to even think about attempting that. Like 0% skill level. Maybe someone with mad digibash skills can help? Please? Hint...Hint...

Heh, I'm visualizing the old 70's cartoon intro with Hulk Prime, lol. :lol

There are some aspects to the figure (limited by only having 2 photos) that aren't explained.

Look behind the truck cab at the blue piece that is in front of the gun, it is also on the back of the robot. It has all the signs of a larger robot crotch piece.

Then there are the guns which appear to combine into an engine or sorts that may fit in the abdomen area.

This isn't concrete proof but it is enough to keep hopes alive.

Also what's up with those gray panels on the inside of his legs, they seem to fold but wouldn't do anything in vehicle mode.

I like the cartoony aspect... Transformers should be cartoony. I'm rather angry at entitled 30-40 year olds demanding toys, cartoons, and comic books "grow up" with them. I'm a father of two boys. I want them to have something to grow up with. I read marvel comics as a child. I can't let my kids read them today, coz marvel comics are aimed at an older audience. It saddens me. I don't mind adults collecting toys, but LET THEM BE KIDS TOYS. that's why I loved and miss TF: animated so much... It appealed to my (at the time) 5 year old as well as me. Main line, store series Transformers SHOULD be aimed at kids first. Adults get masterpiece and 3rd party stuff.
They will... If only to bitch about it. I like it. And the more I look at it, the more endearing it is to me. It will never be my favorite prime, but it's a good, solid figure, and some kid will LOVE it... It will BE Prime to them....

    Dudes!

I think I might have figured out why this Prime looks like this. Aside from some nitpicky minor differences, the overall shape/motif of the truck mode especially looks awfully similar to this, doesn't it?

    ‹Ù‹}Œˆ’èIƒRƒ“ƒ{ƒCƒgƒŒ[ƒ‰[‚Ì‘S–e‚ª–¾‚ç‚©‚ÉIbƒCƒxƒ“ƒgEƒLƒƒƒ“ƒy[ƒ“î•ñbƒgƒ‰ƒ“ƒXƒtƒH[ƒ}[ƒIƒtƒBƒVƒƒƒ‹ƒTƒCƒgbƒ^ƒJƒ‰ƒgƒ~[

I would be willing to bet that this mold was made for Takara's use, and that Hasbro is piggybacking on the mold costs/using it first for a Generations toy...
Which may mean that the Takara release might come with a trailer like the one they've made for display at recent events.

The shape of those two vertical intakes on either side of the grill is far too unique to be something just made up by the toy design team, and has never been seen on a Prime before. Does anyone with the comics recognize it on another vehicle mode character?

Another possibility is that this is in fact his new CARTOON look - we haven't seen the Prime from that show yet right?

Looks like he has all the proper swivels. It's not too far of a deviation from the classic look. I'll pick it up. It'll probably be a lot better in hand, much like Evasion Prime.
