I just noticed G1 Megs has some black panels on the side of his legs.
You can see them better on Armada Megs.
The little gray piece that looks like it folds down. It doesn't look like it's part of the threads to me.

If you paint the legs like the takara legends version, it would improve the look without hurting the tank mode. Most of the leg would be covered anyway. Again, take a look at the pics of the Armada version.

You could also add some red paint on those little molded in squares. Take a look at the comic:

Yeah, coz g1 Megs was super legs... This megatron has huge legs compared to g1.
Don't understand this fandom... People orgasm over toys that look like total random chunks of plastic just because it's an obscure IDW character, but a genuinely universally wanted character like tank megatron based on the legends game (I see it in every freakin' thread discussing megatron toys official or 3p)... Hasbro gives us one that is not only decent, but has a better head sculpt than mp05, and people hate on it... I think they are hating on it coz they want to seem "cool" ... Kinda like the fanboys who had an iPhone in 2008, but now are anti apple coz it's the "cool nerd" thing to do...
Coz it IS a kids toy. Regardless of adults buying them, transformers ARE and should always be aimed and accessible to kids. When they go too far to please adults (2007 movie toys) they are crap.
I'm not a geewuner but I think beast wars was the dark ages of transformers. I can't stand it. I was thrilled when TF: rid came out, but that sucked. Too Japanese. Same with the unicron trilogy. Wasn't til TF:animated that I actually enjoyed a transformers cartoon again. TF: animated and season 1 of g1 are the best... TF-prime is decent... Animation great but it's too dark for toy-playing crowd... Hasbro is trying too hard to be all things to all people, instead of focusing the brand.

I'm really digging these actually. G1 Megatron looks really solid, and the Armada version makes very clever use of the more colorful design. G1 Megs is pretty monotone with all silver (which works since its G1 Meg), but the Armada uses the green and purple fantastically. Sure, the robot mode isn't exactly like the original, but they did try and recreate the shoulder pad look. And the foresight to include Mini-Con ports was excellent. My biggest gripe on Armada is that the cannon is on the arm, so we don't know is there's a way to do the tank turret backpack. Aside from that, it looks great.

Is that guy serious? IBeast Wars was what saved the franchise to begin with. Most of the toys aren't perfect yes but it's the show and the rest of the toys were what help TFs go on.

Armada Megatron's head sculpt is pretty damn good. Can't say the same for the G1-esque version... looks off.

The bot mode is a mixed bag... something about the proportions seems off... and that gun... definitely expect a Shapeways or 3rd Party to replace it with more appropriate weaponry for G1/Armada Megatron.

I had such high hopes for Leader class Megatron.
It really shouldn't be on a par with a Legends figure. :(

Oh well, one less Armada Megatron for you, and one more for me!

'Did you think you could stand against the fury of both Megatrons?!"

"Megatrons do not yield: we conquer!"

Loads of win on both. FUCK YEAH!!

OK 3rd party, we need a left hand with a flip out knife, a back mounted turret, and Leader-1, stat.

If you could throw in a Star Saber and Swindle, that'd be great.

G1 Megatron is awesome, no doubt I will be getting that one. Armada Megatron though is just off, it reminded me more of the built to rule figure (which I think was mentioned in the thread earlier) than the show or original toy.

After studying these pictures he is starting to look really good. The official pics are kinda stiff, but he has a lot of nice articulation going on here.

I thought Takara did a fine job with Universe Hot Shot.

They both look interesting, but Amarda Megatron looks better in both modes.
I think that may be dure to how the colours, and how G1 megatron is posed in the official photo. it just looks awkward.
Looking forward to some in hand photos.

When are they due, anyway? 2015?

Okay, I think one reason G1 Megs looks a little off to me is the grey lower legs. They really need to be black, but then that would mess up the colours in tank mode. Hmm. Also, a couple other things are annoying me:

    1. Why does he have fake tank treads on the outside of his legs when the real ones look just fine at the back?

    2. Why does Armada Megs get so many paint apps (especially in tank mode!) while G1 Megs gets almost none?

I rarely pop in nowadays, but I wanted to chime in on this Megatron.

The legs do seem pretty thin at first glance but I think they'll scale much better than one would think. G1 megs is in an odd pose and Armada Megs shows off how those legs look when at full height, which is pretty neat. I think he's a solid as hell Megatron mold and he'll be the best-looking classic styled Megatron we get for a long time.

Wow. I actually had to do a double-take to make sure they were actually the same mold. It's surprising how much alittle paint and a new head can change the look of a figure.

You know, I'm not sure if there's a way to justify to myself to buy TWO of the same leader-class toy in the same wave... but this is really pushing me to make that decision.

God, my wallet is already crying.
