Just noticed that the treads look separate from the wheels. I wonder if they move since they don't break up during transformation, or if they're partially rubber like Bludgeon's?

Rare site to behold where a Megatron figure is better than an Optimus one xD

I still think Optimus isn't THAT bad, but he falls in comparison to this guy

I think the toys they make should look consistent and be the best version of the character they can be - what IDW has done does not matter one jot as they change the character designs ever other issue anyway.

Not to mention many IDW designs and pretty poor and not at all Transformers like - Brainstorm being a good example and Roadbuster too - neither of them are at all pretty and neither of them are visually consistent with existing toys - heck they are even over the top by the batspit insane level of IDW designs. It makes sense inside their own little niche for them to look different - but since IDW is just a comic it's not important enough to allow an unexplained plot point to dictate a fragments product appearance onto the entire brand - it's not even rational - I can't imagine what possible reason Hasbro has to even allow such horrendous brand fragmentation and distorted product vision other than it gets them some free back plate art for the packets.

Megatron though is bland and lanky. the very definition of vanilla.
I can see they were being pulled in to many directions at once to come up with something that made any kind of sense. The one good thing about it is that it's slightly amusing that it looks so much like the Classics Deluxe grey Megatron toy and the Titanium 6" remade bigger (Neither of which were especially great).

To any one who thinks IDW always leads to great things... I need to say nothing more than the New Voyager Optimus.... There is the living example of everything I've been saying lately of what not to do written in plastic form.

Hasbro should look at that and do the exact opposite from now on.

Did somebody say..."Megatron"? Megatron is my favorite character so it does delight me to see two Megatrons hitting the shelves. The G1 Megatron looks great in my opinion. I like the tank mode. The legs are skinny but they do not bother me. The face is great, the arm cannon is intact, detail is looking good. I am glad he is packing some weaponry to make Skids and Rattrap jealous. Oh, yeah, he is also a Leader Class G1 homage. How long has it been since we got a Leader Class Megatron? The G1 Megatron is a must buy for me.

That Armada Megatron looks pretty good as well and I would pick him up after I am done with the G1/IDW one.

Trash. Thought it was gonna be MTMTE or good at least. These look straight out of that terrible Gi Joe Transformers crossover.

Again, someone who doesn't get it.

This isn't just an IDW line, it's a line to celebrate 30 years of Transformers. Homages are thrown in left right and centre, for some it's great, Brainstorm being a prime example as with Springer Waspinator and Rattrap as there aren't 20+ versions of them characters.

With Optimus and Megs it's harder. Is it an excuse? No. but i can tell you one thing, that Optimus Prime figure in hand will NOT be a bad toy. Not the perfect Optimus, but no where near a bad toy.

I'm surprised they look THIS good tbh.

Nope not a megatron for me armada megatron i'll let it pass but dam the G1 will only pass if it was the 90's but no thanks out of the reveals and name drops. Megatron and ooooh definitely optimus were the most disappointing, looks like they were rushed to present something for botcon. Think long and hard hasbro before you release these figures, can i say marshalls and ross.

I imagine the treads came at a cost to the knee placement though. I just can't get over how shrimpy and short those thighs are. It doesn't look like can do anything but stand straight.

Guys, it's the closest thing we're gonna get to a Megatron 2.0 Masterpiece figure for a most likely long while. I doubt they'd make him a gun again to be honest. I am REALLY excited about it, can't wait to fill up the huge void I have in my collection for a proper sized G1 looking Megatron. I made a short video discussing it quickly if anyones interested,

Love the G1 version. Awesome! ONLY gripe is the legs are not black below the knees. Am I wrong or does it look like the legs can be swiveled around to have the treads on the front in bot mode? It also looks like there is a flip down part on the front of the leg that looks like it can swing down and around to become a foot if the treads are facing forward. If so, more IDW accurate. I could be wrong, can someone else confirm this? Oh, PERFECT head sculpt for G1 Megs and great torso sculpt too.
Armada Megatron, I can take or leave, rather have a G2 repaint version (likely to happen).

Definitely looks like Generations Megs was based on the TF Legends art. But where it deviates from the design is where it matters the most. The skinny legs and the puny fusion cannon really makes the toy look not as imposing or impressive as the artwork.

It's really damn easy to do something in a drawing instead of a functional, physical toy. I honestly am surprised it looks this awesome... I was expecting another monstrosity like cloud megatron. This toy I actually want. This and jetfire were the toys I wanted 30 years ago.

Also, just imagine what could be done by a 3p that reverse engineers this to make an even better version of the tyrant... Coz let's be honest, most of the 3p megatron's suffer serious design flaws. This guy only suffers color issues (let's face it, hasbro prototype pics always look awesome compared to the flat paint and light gray of the released toys) and articulation issues.

Cannon isn't even off in the pic comparison... The toy just has a shooting missile in the tip.... Remove the missile and it's pretty decent cannon
