Back at it again trying to fix this leader Grimlock. I used a set of the Grimlock construct bots in order to try and extend his tail and maybe get better proportions. It's not perfect but its a step in the right direction (hopefully). Also added a piece to try and fill in his hollow chest.

Looking good! Can that pin that holds the dino arms be moved back 1/2 an inch or more? I think that would help the proportions a bit as well by evening the space between thighs, arms and head. Keep it up!

What specific parts from the Grimlock construct bots set did you use?

This looks really cool! Could you post more pictures of the tail assembly? I'm trying to figure out how you got all these pieces to connect but I can't quite make it out.

LOL my thread is back. I'll do a quick post about it once I can rebuild it all. It's really not that stable and I kinda permanently keep him in robot mode now. :/

Thanks i'd really appreciate it. It took me a while to figure out what it is you actually added to the tail as the construct-bots pieces fit so well with it. Im probably just gonna end up super gluing that whole assembly together if possible, as i have much better 3rd party weapons to go with it.

Ok so that middle piece that jets outwards lodges into the underside of Grimlock in dinosaur mode. It fits very tightly in there so I just left it that way. Where I have a screw is where the end tail section closes over and holds itself in place. Unfortunately I broke the ball joint and had to use a screw in its place. The ball joint does need to be shaved down in order for the tail to close around it.

Sweet got it! How.....did you even figure this out lol? This looks really good in person, especially the way the front top of the additional parts fit into the rear groove of his shield/prosthetic ass thing. Thanks again for taking the time to post this!

Man this gonna look so great once its painted :) [IMG]

Honestly I kinda had a general idea when I tried doing it with lego technic pieces but it just didn't work out with what I had. I took a chance and bought the contruct bots set since the colors were similar and I just kinda feel upon it. Can't wait to see this painted.

Currently in bot mode i'm using that tail as an added weapon to the shield.

Making a new tail would be the hardest mod - as it has moving pieces & any 3rd party creation would also have to match the deco in beast mode PLUS the transformation to morning star...

I was contemplating popping the stock ones off and attaching the construct bot arms a little lower on the body, but im not sure how much of an improvment that will be :/

Edit: something like this I guess, gotta play around with it more.

The tail mod is a great idea, but I'm not sure why you'd want larger arms for a Tyrannosaurus( I mean, it is a T. rex.) I don't think the problem is in the arms, but where they're located. If they were under slung rather than sticking out from the sides it'd look much better.

The arms are undersized when compared to the official renders, where they are small, but not quite as small as on this toy. But then again, everything about the proportions is off, so hey.

Also I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. I get close but not the same results. Frustrating..
