Star Saber is from Victory, the Japanese-only final full season of the G1 cartoon. Magnus is long dead by the time he shows up, but he's definitely a G1 character.

 

GO0SE, were you there for the TakTom presentation? Was there any other MP news?

 

Not Sunbow, but Takara picked up after season 3 with Headmasters, then Masterforce, then Victory, all loosely connected. Wheeljack and Perceptor even played key roles in Victory. I only collect G1 cartoon character MPs, so even though they're not Sunbow, SoundBlaster and Star Saber still fit my criteria because they're still from G1 cartoons. I recommend those seasons, but keep in mind they're very Japanese, the storytelling sensibilities are very different from the Sunbow seasons. I loved the animation in Masterforce and Victory and it was a real thrill to finally see some of the latter day G1 toys I had come to life in the animation (Monsterbots, Seacons, Pretenders, etc).

You can tell that 'Bee is just a painted prototype, by the way the paint on his helmet and logo flip-over panel has chipped away to reveal the grey resin beneath. So fingers crossed the final version will look a little nicer.

On a side note I've been trying to get an MP Prowl in Tokyo and the ONLY one I saw was on the Magnus trailer. I jokingly asked but they wouldn't let me buy it hahaha. Grr.

 

Wow, they are taking Toyopets to a new level. Makes sense. It would be cool to see one those drive down a street in Japan.

Did you get a chance to see UM from the back? How does it look? What is the color scheme? Is the butt flap white or blue from the back?

What was your impression of seeing Bumblebee next to Wheeljack? Were you like - "crap this dude is tiny?" Or did his tiny size not phase you?

I am really annoyed with the hollow arms. Sucks they couldn't get the tail light panel to hinge and close over the gap.

If a 3rd party made a better face for Bee, would that improve the figure dramatically?

 

Couldn't get round the back of Magnus, or really round the side so didn't get chance to see.

With Bumblebee I was more surprised by his face and the car mode than anything. It defo looks weird with the two vehicles there, robot mode scale is fine with me though.

 

Is Takara not having a presentation this year like they have in previous years?

Yeah, it's strangely quiet in here regarding a Takara panel. Does anyone know if there was actually one scheduled?

DAMN, he's huge! That's awesome, I'm so stoked for him and can't hardly wait! 

As for the price point, a hazard a guess that SS is at least the same as UM. I'd love to get him for less of course, but I don't see hows that possible with him being so huge. 

Time will tell, but I'm confident that 3prty's probably make some new faces for him. Well change that confident to hoping.

I think people need to just shut up about MP23. Very best case scenario, if they revealed him NOW [and by reveal I just mean mention, like Wheeljack last year], it'll still be 8+ months until release.

What's the effing point of getting a "reveal" of something that's going to come out in around a YEAR and you won't even SEE until much, much later?

TTS 2013, TT mentioned MP20 is a car they had difficulties getting the license for. Fast forward to JANUARY 2014, MP Wheeljack properly shown and announced by takara, to be released in August 2014.

Is this what people want? A mention of something that will possibly come out in over a year?
