I like the alt mode scale of MP Bee next to Wheeljack. Nice!

 

They've fixed Bumblebee's shins but not his flipping flap nor his forearms which still irks me a little. But his face looks great!

 

Beautiful! Love that yellow paint. No complaints here. Wish they had exo-suit Spike with him, though.

 

What's going on? There's a new picture of Bumblebee's face and your avatar hasn't changed yet!  

Gripes: The hollow forearms look worse in these pictures, and I still wish he had some articulation in his hands and rotation in the wrists (sorry, dead horse, I shall walk away now).

That's all very minor, though. I have to focus on those things because otherwise I WANT THIS NOW AND CANNOT WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS. As a man way too old to be this eager for a flippin' toy, I have to temper my enthusiasm somehow.  

Seriously, this looks bloody superb. Unlike in the other recent photos where the light washed out all of the angles of his face, we can finally see all the polygonal glory of his cartoon face. It's as near-as-dammit to perfect.

 

There is definite room here for a 3rd party to step in, scale up BB to the appropriate car size, maintain a smaller-than-MP-Prowl bot mode (not much smaller, but larger than he is now obviously) and add some things that weren't possible due to his size previously (better hands/getting rid of the forearm gap).

Certainly I can see that appealing to more people than the inevitable 1:1 scale KO.

Just sayin' 3Ps. I'd porbably buy that AND still keep the original MP I'm buying anyway.

 

I'll admit originally the lack of finger articulation and wrist swivel bothered me, but then I started playing around with Rumble and Frenzy and realised just how fun these guys are regardless of their lack of hand articulation. There's only so much the deigners could do at a certain scale. Also with the other bots in general if they're not holding a gun then I keep their hands in a fist anyway. Plus I'm getting two Bumblebees so I can always have one rocking out double pistols, Alternity-style.

Holy crap! How did I miss the gaping hole in his forearms. Someone please tell me that they just miss transformed him and the car panels on his forearms are hinged in such a way to fold over and cover up the holes.

 

I'm already having buyers remorse on Bumblebee....

 

I'm not, and mine's been paid for since LAST June. 

 

The head for Bumblebee and Ultra Magnus just seems totally off, when compared to all the other new MPs. Its like they didn't know what to base the designs off, and just went off on their own.

 

There's definitely a mistransformation in the way those panels are folded away properly on the forearms. But I still think the gap will remain, as other prototype pics show that panel folding underneath, not over that gap. Shame really, but definitely not a deal breaker for me! Dec is going to be G1 heaven for me with BB and UM going 2 weeks apart!

 

Really? UM headsculpt looks pretty accurate to me!!

If you take a look at all of the MPs, you in fact find that very few of them are 100% cartoon accurate (Starscream's spark patch, Frenzy and Rumble's various toy-based nods, Sideswipe's Samurai-esque face, and so on). Bumblebee and UM's faces seem more cartoon-accurate than most, but like most of the MPs, they are heavily stylised.

The forearm gap has been there ever since the first prototypes:



Definitely no buyer's remorse here - he looks great in these new pictures.

 

Not attacking you, but I just don't understand statements like this. I mean both Bee and Magnus' heads look so close to the animation and look great, imho. How are you seeing it so differently? What specifically looks off?

 

Have to respectfully disagree. The only thing that's not slavish to the cartoon is the back of Bumblebee's head. Definitely just as or more accurate head sculpts than Rodimus, Optimus, Starscream, the Lambos, and Rumble and Frenzy.

 

if u outline the lines of the faces.....u'll get the animation look......
the silver shiny paint on some of these figures doesnt help much.
cept on BB since it looks like flat grey paint..just take a pencil n outline them.
