Thought Beast Machines was pretty good overall and I felt the writing was well done - though it did take a while adjusting to the CGI and Botanica being a complete change of pace.

Megatron's final form was a disappointment though.

Sweet. The other Beast Machines boxed set is extremely expensive, so it's good that it's getting a rerelease.

Question is, will it be available in Canada? Or will we be denied our home-grown Transformers series, a la Beast Wars?

    Shout Factory ships to Canada.

Go to their website, stick it in your cart, ship it to Canada - Done.

Amazon has been really slow on getting preorders up for TF: Cybertron and I expect this as well.

Why doesn't Shout! ever release these old series on BluRay? They keep coming out (which is great) but always DVD only. Doesn't make sense to me.

step 1 buy the UK set (it's like a £10.00 for both parts on Ebay UK) step 2 open Vplayer step 3 put in disc and watch disc - this also works for the australian Beast was DVD or the UK RID discs.

So the lack of an NTSC version is not a big deal - besides i'm sure you can find some of it on youtube anyway.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Beast Machines, I'm glad to see it's getting a new release. Prices for the first boxset online were insane last I looked. This release will be nice for the folks that wanted to pick it up but didn't want to or couldn't pay that much for it. It's also nice to see it getting a re-release because it shows that someone is acknowledging its existence. They could have easily ignored it just because the series isn't as popular as others.

Nice. Though Primal looks kinda evil. Well okay, he goes all Templar by the end of season one, but still. I kinda like the cover from the "Their planet. A new war" DVD's.

But it's great to see BM getting this. Shout's been great.

The up-convert may not always be the best quality. I've seen some bad up-converts of old programs on blurry and they aren't pretty. It could also be a incensing issue, they may only be allowed to produce DVDs. Assuming high-resolution masters exist, they could be lost or unavailable, or also tied up in red tape.

I've watched my old "Beast Machines" DVDs on my HD TV and they still look great, so no need for a blurry IMO :)

Now if I ever get a 4k TV, then we'll talk, LOL

I'm skeptical that there's an easy way to upconvert - given it's CGI, they probably just exported to the required TV resolution at the time. And the files at this point might be a bit too old to be usable to re-export the masters, assuming they're still in Rainmaker's possession.

I didn't really get into Beast-era stuff til I found the Shout BW series on Amazon for like $26.00 a few years ago. So I'll probably grab this set. Now if we could just get RiD in America (c'mon Hasbro, just cut a deal with Disney or Saban or whoever already).

Great news! Hope they will release the 1986 movie anytime soon, it is not hard to find but really expensive! Blu Ray release will be sweet!
