thank god I'm getting Takara Tomy MP-08 Grimlock

 

Oh man thank you soooo much for posting your receipt!!! I grabbed mine today and they let me price match with the picture for $59.99.  

 

My notes from the feedback thread since people are posting here too.

Just opened mine.

Thoughts:
He is pretty awesome but having to take out the xacto and screwdriver first thing always sucks.
Out of the box he needs:
* Fix knees. Had to disassemble the thighs and cut down the spring. Knee joints are beautiful now though. No more fretting I could snap some off.
* Fix claw. One of the claws was crazy tight so I had to disassemble the forearm and work the claw on the plastic. It's better but still tight right now.
* Fix hips. Haven't done it yet but I'll be Futuring this bad boy very soon.

Gimmicks mostly work though not exactly as well as you would think by the instructions.

In summary, more would than should have been needed but he'll be pretty great when I'm done. And the price was definitely right.

 

I tried the screws but they were tight enough that I was afraid of stripping them.

 

I believe MP Grimlock is out in Canada now. I saw that it was out in British Columbia sightings. I'm a bit worried now.

 

Yep, I picked one up in Langley, BC today. They're 99.99 here but until tomorrow, there's a 25% off sale which includes Grimlock.

Btw, what are you worried about? Not finding one? Or something else?

My TRU had a sign saying "limit one per person" so that may deter scalping to a certain extent.

 

I already have one (Takara one). Always thought about getting a second one to keep in box. But now I have a friend who wants me to find one for him. Usually the ToysRUs I go to doesn't allow customers to buy more than 1 Masterpiece.

 

Well, fwiw, the two TRU closest to me STILL do not have any stock of Grimmy and still do not know when they'll have any. I've been calling them both since the OP reported the first sighting.

At least I got in luckily on the TRU-online thingy even if it's $20 more than store-only. TRU-Online won't even do price-matching. Oy, vey.

People are paying between $90ish and $110ish for one on Ebay now.

 

Future fix for the hips worked perfectly! First time I ever tried it. Super easy!

 

glad to hear! It's a great trick for any figure from G1 to present.

 

Did TRU take down the web# in their system? I gave them the number to see if they have it but now its not a good number anymore.


Update: I asked on the live chat about the web#. I was told it is discontinued. Could someone confirm?

this is what happened with soundwave last year in my area.

I checked the computer and it was at a negative increment at the distribution center.

yesterday Grimlock was at -90
and over 500 on backorder.

when this happened last year with soundwave he wasn't seen again.

Soundwave started at 13,000 units in my area last year.

Grimlock 976 units TOTAL!

I just don't get why some people refuse to believe what is right in front of their face. I am not saying that it is finished for good, but for right now... Grimlock is gone.
